In real crime news..."Baltimore Cops Carried Toy Guns to Plant on People They Shot, Trial Reveals"

https://www.vice.com/en_u...LcQeyuiRRQ

One officer involved in the city's massive corruption scandal said officers kept the replicas "in case we accidentally hit somebody or got into a shootout, so we could plant them."

They did that in Philadelphia and other cities. Some cops got busted. It was eithe planting drugs or guns on them. These rogue cops contribute to putting a bad label on all Black males and the community itself. That dirty tactic of ‘planting’ is still happening.

They need serious police reform in Baltimore.

Ha ha, this got moved to politics and religion? It's neither. It's not religion, and it's not about any politics or politicians, or left vs right...

Yes, this scandal was crazy. 5 out of the 8 cops were black by the way. Thank God otherwise it would have become a national story. It's a corrupt city run by criminals. Look at a few of their recent mayors and their criminal behavior. The debt is sky high in the city too and nobody can account for the money. And it looks like Trump was right. 68% of murders in Baltimore have gone without arrests. And just like Chicago, the murder rate this year is higher already than last year even though we are in a Pandemic. Residents are fleeing the city and the city has the lowest population in 100 years. Their education system ranks among the worst too. There is also a police shortage. But hey, I guess they have the Baltimore Ravens lol.

What's the purpose of the forum, and what are the rules? I've been here since the old look, but must be going by the memory of crime posted in general discussion.

Is this not true crime? The cops are not necessarily all one race. And there's no debate.

.

Have you seen the news recently about the intense political battle between those fighting to defend the police despite them doing acts like the one you raised against those who want to stop police violence and corruption in the execution of their responsibilities?

Ha ha of course. But this is not an opinion article, it can't be debated, it's just a report of a trial and the findings. There's nothing in it about defunding the police or demonstrations, elections, antifa, Trump, far right, etc.

Of course it can be debated. It is everything to with reforming the Police. It is everything about why so many have protested. Responses to things like this can be crucial for elections.

.

What was your point in posting it? Was just to have people say, that's a fun fact? Do you want anything to be done to prevent this? Should it treated the same as wishing people Happy Fathers Day, telling some jokes or rating the latest movie?

The point was to talk about a trial and the outcome of it. To point out what was found out about the Baltimore police planting weapons. Crime is not politics, although politics can be criminal. There is no debate inherent within this article unless someone was debating the court findings and thought the police didn't actually plant weapons and the Baltimore police were clean.

I could have posted an article about a serial killer like Son of Sam, but that doesan't mean that post is about gun control issues in general.

But, sure this case could fuel a political discussion about what should be done to prevent this kind of thing with the system of police in general. But this history of planting of weapons, in this case, could have been any race framed by the police. I think it's referring to more than police corruption targeting blacks in particular.

But really, my point in bringing this up is the haphazard police(ing) prejudice within Prince.org wink

cops have been doing this kind of crap for decades... they have a name for them... it is sick stuff...

it is so odd that a cop can make a mistake and shoot someone for reaching towards what could be a weapon...

But cops reach for or pull their guns all the time... oh and citizens who legally carry guns obey the law better than most police.

The bolded part is part of the political system: Government is the executive (including the administration of government depts such as the Police), the legislature/parliament and judiciary. As the US is not a pure Westminster system, these elements do not enjoy the clear separation of powers that other governments have - this means judges and police chiefs are political appointees and some are even elected. So the operation of the police and courts is political. So is assuming that the planting is race issue - Nothing I said was anything about race. The political outcome of this should be reforming the police, not just punishing the crime as if it is a one off.

.

Prince.org has always been a prejudiced site. I much preferred HouseQuake and only came here when it shutdown as a forum. The worst forum here in regard to intolerance of different views from the core posters is PM&M - This is why I generally only lurk there.
