Don't you want this to be over as soon as possable? Don't you know both joe and berrnie have used this as a reason to support them?

oh and no matter who was the POTUS, even of we had single payer healthcare, we would be seeing the same kinds of issues... every single nation that has been hit has a shortage of care and treatments. Every Single One.

No one is coming for your abortion: they just want common-sense abortion regulations: background checks, waiting periods, lifetime limits, take a class, and a small tax.

What was interesting is that in his press conference, when he started talking about "real people want to get back to work" he said, "I have business owners calling me, and they are losing a lot of money, they want to know when they can open their business again and get back to work." <--- When he says "real people want to get back to work" that is who he is talking about. It's not the restaurant workers, day care workers, etc., it's the owners of those companies that are losing money because they can't earn it if their company is closed.

It should be OVER when the medical professionals and the scientists say it's OVER, not Trump's arbitrarily picked dates that are designed to help the "economy" (read: Help his re-election chances).

I'll stick with thise who actually KNOW SOMETHING, instead of self centered imbeciles like our "Presidente" , Herr Trump

The issue Only, is he wants people in churches for Easter Sunday. That is 17 days from now. He wants everything back open by Easter Sunday. This pandemic will not be under control in 17 days. Everyone would love for this to be over as soon as possible, but people (and media) are calling on Trump to be realistic. Since they are calling on him to be realistic, to not force everything to open back up before we have this under control, he decides they are "lame stream media trying to keep the country closed for as long as possible" to make him look bad. No, they want him to keep things closed until this pandemic is under control in our country and we don't lose millions of people.

Yes. I was really not surprised that his focus on the coronavirus, and trying to open the country when it’s really not safe to right now, seems to be more about focusing on himself. He made such a stupid-ass statement, about accusing some in the media wanting him to keep the country closed, so it will be the downfall of his election success. Unbelievable. Frigging narcissist. He’s his own worst enemy.

and you think it will not be based on that?

tump did not say it would end for sure at some date... more like that was when he wants it to be over by... you and others are making up stuff he did not say. remember this is trump...there is no nuance and no subtly... it is funny people say "that was a dog whistle..." or that is "code" but He is not that smart...

And do you believe if someone else was potus that we would not be in very much the same situation?

Trump said he wanted to see the churches packed on Easter Sunday. If the pandemic is still raging at that time (which most professionals thisnk it will), then that's hoping that people put their lives at risk, and possibly get sick and even die....and for waht ?

Can we please have 1 or 2 main threads (preferably 2) so we don't need a separate one for every little aspect of the virus and the politics surrounding it?

I feel like this thread focuses on the current administration's managing of the virus, which, considering the tweet above, looks like it is getting worse.

No, I am not in agreement with Trump. The backstory to that tweet is him stating that he wants churches packed on Easter Sunday. Of course, he did the "we'll see". But the media, doctors, scientists started coming out and saying that Easter Sunday will be too soon. So Trump, being Trump, has to personalize it and make their reports into something they are not. They were just reporting what doctors and scientists were saying, and were stating they also felt that was too soon. So the premise behind his tweet is wrong. And he's ticked that others aren't agreeing with him about opening everything back up by Easter, and has to make it about himself.

I have no confidence in this administration. The daily press conferences feel like lip service. I don't even live in NY but I tune in to Cuomo's daily updates because he is telling it like it is.

Andrew Cuomo > Mike Pence + Trump

Who keeps killing every stimulus bill, even they already have bi-partisan negotiation, and who keeps adding unnecessary pork to it, taking advantage of a crisis at the expense of all of us.

The democrats, that's who, specifically Pelosi & Schumer, as they try to turn the stimulus package into the green new deal in an effort to never let a crisis go to waste.

Shame on them and shame on those who defend this nonsense.

He is a "leader" who lacks empathy and sympathy - his only concern is this country not slipping into a recession because that threatens his re-election. He should not be tweeting about ANYTHING except this crisis and injecting the American people with confidence that they are being and will be taken care of. He is not a leader he is a narcissistic jerk.

Exactly.

And I’m glad the democrats didn’t just settle for anything with the stimulus pkg. They fought for American workers. Somehow may repubs think Dems should just settle for anything. Glad the Dems fought hard. Trump is the one f*ing up his own re-election. He should have been straight-up about the Coronavirus in the first place.

He’s suppose to give a speech on easing out of social distancing. Even he wants this done before Easter, it will piss off a lot of people, because many states are not ready for it to start by Easter.

Well i hope we all know that everyone at risk will continue to be at risk for at least year. Nothing is going to just go away. The virus is not just going to go away.

.

The only unknown is how our medical infrastructure will hanfdle a crush of patients.

And that should have been addressed by both state local and federal governments a long time ago.

.

Cuomo in NY is dealing with that right now and Is obviously taking this seriously. He is furiously trying to build capacity for what we hopefully will not need.

We all look to NY right know with baited breath.

Right on! Don't listen to a word this asshole says or tweets. Listen to the health experts and professionals. They will tell you when it's safe to return to "normal" life. Here is Canada we have tremendous support and advice from our PM and health experts.

Oh, I do, but the difference between what Trump wants and what I want, is that I want to follow the advice of doctors and scientists (and not those hanging on Trump's coattails). If they say April 12th is too soon, I trust their judgement. I do NOT trust Trump's ample gut. I do NOT trust Trump wanting to open the country to save the economy. I do NOT trust Trump when he says "real peole want to get back to work" when he says in a press conference, "I have business owners and CEOs calling me and they want to open their businesses." This is NOT about the economy, this is NOT about Trump. It IS about keeping Americans safe. So, no, I do not agree with Trump. Yes, I want the country to get back to normal, or as normal as it can be with Trump in charge, but I what I want vs. what I know to be realistic are two different things. Trump does not recognize that difference in himself. So no, I do not agree with Trump.

Distractions on your personal opinion of the other party and their followers are why so many threads have been removed.

.

The issue here is trump's comments on why we need to be concerned about the impact of his response to covid19 on his election prospects. Everyone wants these shutdowns to end as soon as possible based on the threat so the response has less effect on the massive number of unemployed, shutdown businesses and lost interactions. The least of anyone's concerns should be on how it could personally affect trump.
