In hospital news today.........

The boss who is still staying home and working, called and said a patient in our office on the 12th tested positive. eek

The hospital is requiring a Covid test to be included in pre-surgery testing. She was in our office and they set up surgery for her, she went in for pre testing and it was positive.

When I checked her in, I had to scan her ID and insurance cards which she got out of her wallet. I then had to scan in 9 pages of paperwork that we mailed to her to complete and bring in with her.....

I was less than 6 feet away from her. I had a mask on, they won't allow me to wear gloves, I sanitize everything like crazy and after I touch the id's and such...

HR sent a nurse over and tested me, a nurse, and the Dr. who interacted with the patient.....

Hoping for results this evening. They won't call me with the results but they will call my boss...who is supposed to let us know. eek

I am going to be really, really pissed if I test positive. I'm going to the Lake this weekend and planned on partying. Maybe the alcohol intake will cleanse my blood. lol

Penny, any update???

Still waiting. They said if it was at the lab by 2 that we should get results tonight. I took it to the lab myself, at 1:55 they said they were waiting for them...

COME BACK RODEO COME BACK!

Well that is news Pen, bad news. Fingers crossed, good lord. Can you go to the lake anyway? I remember you went last year.

Still haven't heard anything, it's late here probably won't be til tomorrow. They haven't told me to not come to work.

Instead of my boss waiting for them to call, she should've called and tried to find out.

That test burned..like I got a nose full of pool water burn.

I'm sorry that you are having to wait. Waiting is the worst part. I've always hated waiting for test results on anything. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Gov. McMaster has stated all state employees are to start phasing back in to the office, with them being back in place by June 1st. We've not even begun a downward slope yet. This means I'll have to return to doing in-home visits after June 1st, I'm sure, unless the client tells us they aren't comfortable with having us visit. My boss, though, said that since I'm high risk, they will try to work something out if I'm uncomfortable with going out. But it's not fair that I put that on the other social workers. I guess we'll play it by ear for now.

I went to bed early, I was tired. Woke up in the middle of the night and it felt like my nostrils were on fire. sad I figure if it feels like that for me, then Trump probably isn't being tested every day, OR they aren't doing the test correctly if he is, because his nose surely has to be on fire with every day testing.

When I got back up this morning, the boss messaged at 10:30 last night, that it was negative. Yay!

I've got to take my temp twice a day and report it to the boss for the next 14 days. Contact was on the 12th, 8 days ago, so by my count this time next week I should be semi clear, but not clear enough from the testing date. They haven't told me not to come to work. LOL

I'm with ya Poppys. When she called me yesterday she acted all disgusted with me, that I had to get a test now....I asked months ago, if I could wear gloves up front, and she said no, gloves were on short supply. Heck I guess I'm lucky I get to wear a mask, and the hospital is making the patients wear masks when they come into the offices. She isn't a very good leader for sure.

Benni, stay safe and I know you will take all the precautions that you can. Hopefully your boss will work with you on it.

Thank you Maple!

More hospital news. Remember back when I posted that the hospital said that anyone working within 6 ft of patients needs mask, gloves and face shields on? And the boss said she talked with HR and all we get to wear was a mask? Well low and behold the boss comes in today and states that we do have face shields that we can wear, they've been in her office all this time...you know the office that she hasn't been too? eek

So it took 2 employees and a Dr. that had to get Covid testing and THEN she tells us. WTF? She finally comes in and sees the war zone for herself, I guess she didn't believe what I was telling her, with the hospital screening patients, the Johnny on the Spot on our sidewalks, the lines of people trying to get in.

And now this. Fuck Trump.

Antimalarial drug touted by President Trump is linked to increased risk of death in COVID patients

Source: Washington Post

A study of 96,000 hospitalized coronavirus patients on six continents found that those who received an antimalarial drug promoted by President Trump as a “game changer” in the fight against the virus had a significantly higher risk of death compared with those who did not.

People treated with hydroxychloroquine, or the closely related drug chloroquine, were also more likely to develop a type of irregular heart rhythm, or arrhythmia, that can lead to sudden cardiac death, it concluded.

The study, published Friday in the medical journal the Lancet, is the largest analysis to date of the risks and benefits of treating covid-19 patients with antimalarial drugs. It is based on a retrospective analysis of medical records, not a controlled study in which patients are divided randomly into treatment groups — a method considered the gold standard of medicine. But the sheer size of the study was convincing to some scientists.

“It’s one thing not to have benefit, but this shows distinct harm,” said Eric Topol, a cardiologist and director of the Scripps Research Translational Institute. “If there was ever was hope for this drug, this is the death of it.”

I hear those daily covid-19 rabbit tests they are taking in the WH garner a 48% false result. For all we know they are spreading it amongst themselves shrug

I was just watching Secretary of Defense Esper on TV just now - - he is saying there will be a vaccine ready to be brought to scale (i.e. 100s of millions of doses) by the end of the year. But aren't the best epidemiologists saying a fully vetted vaccine would take 12-18 months? eek

@Benni I hope this ^ isn't your nightmare come true!

However, he said they are posturing for a second wave of the virus neutral
