#MAGA Thread Redux

https://theweek.com/speed...hing-great

https://theweek.com/speedreads/900356/trump-tells-town-hall-plans-cut-entitlements-hopes-replace-obamacare-something-great

The federal deficit has shot up under President Trump, due largely to a $1.5 trillion tax cut and bipartisan spending increases — Trump has insisted on hiking military spending, Democrats pushed to raise domestic programs.

And so at a Fox News town hall in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, Martha McCallum argued that "if you don't cut something in entitlements, you'll never really deal with the debt." "Oh, we'll be cutting," Trump said...

Entitlements refer to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, and Trump has sent mixed signals on whether he wants to cut them. The Trump administration is also asking the Supreme Court to strike down the Affordable Care Act, and one of the town hall participants asked what Trump envisions as a replacement to ObamaCare. Trump wasn't real specific.

Ironic that in the middle of the Coronavirus breakout the Trump administration was in court this week trying to wipe out Obamacare with nothing to replace it. People in red states that did not sign on to Expanded Medicaid have no way to get tested without paying out of pocket - IF the tests do become more available in the US (we are waay behind) - and IF their rural hospitals are not closed due to lack of funding.

My state has insured 500,000 people with expanded Medicaid - and a Dem Governor now in his 2nd term after Repub nightmare Bobby Jindal - thank goodness.

Expanded to general topic about what this disaster of an Administration is up to.

Trump Replaces Mulvaney With Meadows as His Chief of Staff

  • Meadows, a North Carolina congressman, has been a key ally
  • Mulvaney was the acting chief of staff for more than a year

The wiki page on this guy's Political Positions is crazy. He also lied on his application for Chief of Staff, saying he had a Bachelors degree, and then amending it to Associates when he got caught.

Trump, Pence to skip annual St. Patrick's Day lunch on Capitol Hill

March 8 (UPI) -- President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence turned down an invitation from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to the annual St. Patrick's Day lunch on Captiol Hill.

White House deputy press secretary Judd Deere cited Pelosi as the reason the president and vice president would skip the traditional bipartisan celebration of the holiday set to take place on Thursday, Politico reported.

"Since the speaker has chosen to tear this nation apart with her actions and rhetoric, the president will not participate in moments where she so often chooses to drive discord and disunity and will instead celebrate the rich history and strong ties between the United States and Ireland at the White House on March 12," said Deere...

The absence of Pence and Trump would mark the first time neither the president nor vice president have attended the lunch since it's founding.

Renamed this thread again. Dawned on me that this was Rodeo's lane so I went with his title.

Twitter flags Trump retweet video, ‘Manipulated Media’

For the first time, Twitter has branded a political video shared by President Donald Trump as “manipulated media.”

The video, which mocked Joe Biden, was originally posted by White House social media director Dan Scavino. The clip included a speech made by Biden on Saturday that was edited to make it appear that the Democratic candidate had inadvertently endorsed the president.

Trump retweeted the video on Saturday and added: “I agree with you, Joe!” It was also retweeted by Trump’s campaign manager Brad Parscale.

The Biden video was edited to shorten one of his sentences so he could be heard saying: “Excuse me. We can only re-elect Donald Trump.”

But what he actually said: “Excuse me. We can only re-elect Donald Trump if, in fact, we get engaged in this circular firing squad here. It’s gotta be a positive campaign.”

Why? The protection for pre-existing conditions is the only thing giving millions insurance...

Medicare for all would be better though... and more legally stable. ACA is going to keep being attacked.

Agree. In a random conversation with a hotel worker yesterday, she still blames Obamacare for ruining her health insurance premiums years ago. When I mentioned that pre-existing conditions would not be covered without the ACA, it had no impact.

A pharma industry spokesman on TV said - if and when a Coronavirus vaccine is available, people will have to pay to get it. Universal healthcare would cover something like this for everyone (without all the gouging) and control future outbreaks for the entire population.

Possible game changer.

https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/09/bullock-enters-montana-senate-race-124260

Bullock enters Montana Senate race

The term-limited governor had long said he wasn't interested in running, but Democrats mounted a furious recruiting campaign.

Montana Gov. Steve Bullock launched his Senate campaign Monday, a last-minute entrance that turns the race against GOP Sen. Steve Daines into a top-tier contest that could help decide control of the Senate.

"I've always fought for the people of Montana," Bullock, a Democrat, said in a tweet announcing his campaign. "Together, we expanded health care, protected public lands, banned dark money in politics & more. Now I'm taking that fight to the US Senate. Let’s make Washington work more like Montana."

Wonder who's more upset?

AP- MOSCOW -- U.S. President Donald Trump will not be coming to Moscow for Victory Day celebrations on May 9, the White House said Tuesday.

The White House confirmed that Trump has declined the Kremlin invitation to attend Russia’s Victory Day celebrations on the 75th anniversary of World War II victory — the nation's most important holiday.

Trump said last year he appreciated the invitation, but wasn't sure if he could go as the celebration falls “right in the middle of political season.”

After all the things he has said, dismissing this virus like it's nothing as it escalated around the world -

This may be the biggest lie of his tenure: “I’ve always known this is a pandemic. I’ve felt that it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic ... I’ve always viewed it as serious.”

Check out eveything he has said with regard to the virus and WHEN he said it:

Fox News was complicit in perpetuating his cavalier attitude. This kind of thing is the true test of leadership and Trump (no surprise) is failing miserably.

Absolutely.

Trump is disgusting and is a chronic lier. He has failed miserably through this and if his fans can't see it, the rest of the world certainly can. He has no place in the position of President. He's simply clueless.
