Attack in Baghdad kills revered military figure Qasem Soleimani

Trump once tweeted multiple times that President Obama was going to go to war with Iran in order to win the election. So what does Trump do? He orders an air strike which kills the Iranian military leader Qasem Soleimani and Iraqi militia leader, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis. Looks like Trump is getting us into war with the Middle East.

Iran will not let this go w/o seeking revenge. They can't. They have always seen us as invaders, not liberators. They have seen us as the terrorists and to them, this would be an act of war.

I hope not a war. I've got family over there. My brother and his wife are visiting her family. And her family aren't planning to leave. I just want all of them to be safe.

How can anyone be so God damn reckless? I just can't understand how someone can be so stupid.

The sanctions currently on Iran are acts of terror.
I don’t mean that as euphemism but literally acts of terror.
Civilians are being targeted and killed in an effort to coerce them to support western imperialism.

This in particular though is a war crime.

ISIS have been trying to kill Qasem Soleimani because Iran opposes ISIS.
From Syria, to Afghanistan to Iran to Bolivia and Venezuela the u.s and it’s allies are always aligned with extremists and the most right wing elements in every region it invades or tries to invade or overthrow.
Birds of a feather flock together I suppose.

In the 50’s the U.S overthrew Iran’s socialist prime minister Mohammad Mosaddegh and installed the far right fascist Shah.

I am happy he is no longer a threat... I am not sure this is a good idea for the US to have taken this action. Iran is a terror state and its government needs to be crushed....but we can not go alone. Sad that the free nations rather placate states like these (hello 1930s called)...

No one is coming for your abortion: they just want common-sense abortion regulations: background checks, waiting periods, lifetime limits, take a class, and a small tax.

You sound like ISIS.
That’s what ISIS says about Iran.
Maybe ISIS will join you?

Iran is not a threat or an enemy.
Relax, put your gun down.
Iran isn’t coming for your bacon sandwich.

You REALLY need to drop the "classy" schtick. Given your recent posts, it carries absolutely no weight at all.

How silly of me to assume you all were smart enough to grasp I was speaking of plans offered under the exchange...

(I have made the point that all plans not subject to a fine...i mean tax... are obamacare. But I also understand that plans under the exchange are not the same as their otherwise identical plan bought outside the exchange--I know first hand I made an appointment and was asked if it was an exchange plan I said it was and he said "sorry we do not take that" but then I said It wasn't and that they took...but I was the same plan)

you also seemed to forget when barack said that under his plan they would give an elederly person a pill and not an opperation. He also said he would want his family to have the best care and not what what one would get under his plan.

sorry I'm not smart enough to understand. Under Obamacare plan they would have just gave him pill. I'm sure you're correct. I'm not smart enough to understand how hospitals work when someone goes in complaining of chest pains.

oh you missed it when pig vomit diarrhea said that an elderly heart patient might get a pill and not a surgery...you know to save money.

Yes. Nor were they even informed. Nothing good will come of this, in any possible way.

And regarding some of the wayward dogma in this thread - Iraq is our ally, and also Iran's ally. It was ridiculously stupid to kill Iran's top commander while he was in Iraq.

maybe... but arguable. much like how in 2012 barck tried to down play Benghazi and when Clinton bombed Iraq during his impeachment. Justified or not I agree the timing is bad and gives haters ammo to use against him.

By the Constitution, yes, he is required to, unless there is threat of an imminent attack against the United States. There was no imminent threat. They stated they did this to prevent "future attacks" not attacks that are imminent. To say that Iran was planning to attack, states merely that they have talked about it, but that there was no immediate danger.

Trump attacking is just the latest in him breaking the law.

If there is no imminent threat of danger, he could have held off the attack until Congress came back into session, which is today. Trump decided to act without notifying Congress because he knew he would not have the support needed to do it. Also, the day he ordered the attack, the news was filled with items about him having known that withholding the funds from Ukraine was illegal.

AND it was just reported that Pompeo notified Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about the attack before it happened. And yet, he couldn't notify Congress?
