Yes....thats what most people want...Impeach AND Remove him.....

From the outside looking in though...

it doesnt seem like the impeachment is worth a zot if he is not removed....

Is THAT going to happen ?

I bet NOT....

If it doesn't happen because Moscow Mitch and his GOP comrades refuse to hold a fair trial complete with witnesses and document production, would you agree that the "will of the people" has been subverted?

Yes

I hope Speaker Pelosi does not send over the Articles of Impeachment until the framework for a fair trial is agreed upon and set in writing. Several reason for this:

1. You can't have a fair trial without witnesses - especially witnesses who were prevented by the defendant from testifying during the "grand jury" portion of the process. Same thing with discovery of documents

2. You can't have a fair trial when the "jury foreman" - Moscow Mitch McConnell - says that he is not an impartial juror, which is something other Republican members of the jury have also said. If the jury says going in that they are not going to be fair and impartial, that DEFINITELY calls for witnesses and documents. It's the only way to keep the jury honest

3. Unrepentant serial adulterer Donald J. Trump wants nothing more than a trial and an acquittal, so that he can bleat 400 times a day that he was "completely exonerated". As it stands right now, he can't bleat that. He can bleat that the impeachment was a sham, a witch hunt, a whatever. But as of right now, he is in effect an indicted person who has not been found guilty OR not guilty. This greatly distresses him, because he knows the longer he can't bleat that he has been "completely exonerated", the more people will only think of him as impeached

4. Moscow Mitch McConnell refused to give Merrick Garland a hearing. At that point he gave up any and all rights to complain about getting the short end of any process, because he raped the process by which a president nominates a Supreme Court justice. Moscow Mitch McConnell didn't know it, but he dug his own grave when he did that, and the grave diggers are at the door right now

5. Speaker Pelosi holds ALL the cards. ALL OF THEM. I couldn't give a rat's patootie about "a speedy trial" (unrepentant serial adulterer Donald J. Trump has no rights to a speedy trial under the Sixth Amendment because this isn't a criminal trial) or "it's been long enough" or "we have other business we need to do". B. F. D. There is nothing more important that the impeachment of a United States president, and there is nothing more important in the impeachment process than a fair trial.

STICK TO YOUR GUNS, SPEAKER PELOSI. DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE, REGARDLESS OF THEIR PARTY.

That's a hard NO for beaucoup reasons. But I really don't expect more from a poster that used the Daily Stormer as a "source". Fuck off our politics from abroad if you can't do better than that, it's dire enough here as it is.

err....SO you,d be satisfied if Trump is impeached yet remains in office ?

Right, because letting Trump run amok is the best thing for our people. The majority didn't vote for him.

That’s right. Whether acquitted or not, it’s about ‘accountability’. The impeachment will be a stain on his presidency forever, because he caused it on himself, and he should take responsibility for his actions.

Also, all presidents need to know that certain actions will get them impeached. And the next one that gets impeached might have a Senate run by the other party.

Lev Parnas documents were released. It almost sounds like they were planning to assassinate the Ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch. They (GOP candidate for senate Robert Hyde and Parnas) were talking about her being moved, the guys Hyde had watching her were asking what they want them to do and what is in it for them, that she has talked to 3 people and her phone and computer are off, that she's next to the embassy and has been there since Thursday, that they will let them know when she's on the move, that they are willing to help if they (Hyde and Parnas) would like a price, and you can do anything in Ukraine with money, that if they want her out they will have to make contact with security forces, that nothing had changed, that she's still not moving and that they finally have someone on the inside.

It reads like a poorly written spy novel. I mean...wow.

And Rudy wrote a letter to the President of Ukraine, telling him that he was acting on behalf of Trump the citizen, not Trump the president, and that it was perfectly legal for him to do so. Guess that gives lie to Trump saying that it was government business.

Pelosi named the managers for the Impeachment trial:

  • House Intelligence Chair Adam Schiff
  • House Judiciary Chair Jerry Nadler
  • Rep. Hakeem Jeffries
  • Rep. Jason Crow
  • Rep. Val Demings
  • Rep. Zoe Lofgren
  • Rep. Sylvia Garcia

She said the emphasis of those selected was based on litigation. They've chosen the above listed individuals. She added:

"The emphasis is on comfort level in the courtroom. The emphasis is on making the strongest possible case to protect and defend our Constitution to seek the truth for the American people."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke this morning about why she has held onto the articles of impeachment since they were passed in December.

"We had hoped that the courtesy would be extended that we would have seen what the process would be in the Senate," she said.

"Short of that, that time has revealed many things since then," she added. "Time has been our friend in all of this because it has yielded incriminating evidence, more truth into the public domain."

On new evidence, Pelosi cited examples that included new emails showing that 91 minutes after Trump's phone call with Ukrainian President Zelensky, an aide in the Office of Management and Budget asked the department to hold off on Ukraine aide.

House managers will walk the impeachment articles over to the Senate today

Now that the impeachment managers have been named, they will physically bring the articles of impeachment over to the Senate before the trial can start. This is the next step in the process.

Speaker Pelosi said this morning that they would "march" the articles over to the Senate today.

Next, the managers will read the articles aloud on the Senate floor. Pelosi's office told CNN that will happen tomorrow. After that, the impeachment trial can start.

Here's what else we're expecting today —and in the days ahead:

  • Noon ET: The House will vote to pass a resolution officially naming the managers.
  • 5 p.m. ET: Pelosi will hold what's call an engrossment ceremony for the articles of impeachment. This is the formal signing and delivery of the documents. The House mangers are expected to walk to the Senate to present the articles to the Secretary of the Senate.
  • Tomorrow: The House managers will read the articles aloud on the Senate floor.
  • Tuesday: The impeachment trial is expected to begin, according to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Thanks for summarizing. I'm reminded of the hearings in the House and my impression of Marie Yovanovich. She had the courage to come forward and report wrong-doing. The impression she portrayed at the hearings, at least for me, watching, was of someone scared, almost timid. Willing to testify, certainly, yet hurt. She was treated horribly. I don't know if she's usually so soft-spoken, but now that I read your summary of the Parnas/Hyde/guys-watching-her-in-Ukraine interactions, it becomes more clear: she was being hunted. And, maybe suffers from PTSD, as a result. Whereas, Fiona Hill cut like a knife in all her testimony.
