Michael Moore: We are not a nation of gun nuts.

Moore went on tv and said a decent truth; most Americans do not own one gun. Sixty eight percent of us do not have any guns--we are not a nation of gun nuts. The minority of right wing kooks own most of the guns. Americans are sane, it is the mob we need to stop. Put those guns down you dicks.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

I guess the question is, why do people think they need guns and what are they trying to defend themselves against? It's not like this is solely a right wing white guy problem, a large number of black men own guns too.

I think anti-gun folks need to temper their rhetoric. I'm not a gun person myself (my fiancee had to drag me to the range because she wanted me to learn how to shoot, and I'm glad I did, but I'm still not really a gun person lol) but when people like Beto talk about all these gun grabbing ideas they have, they only make gun folks dig in harder and say "See? They DO want to take guns away!"

I can understand the guns that he does want to take away, but that's neither here nor there. What gets my goat is when Republicans make the claim that Democrats are trying to take away their 2nd Amendment rights. It's obvious, to me at that time, that they don't know anything about the Constitution, because if they did, they would understand that the only way the 2nd Amendment could be taken away from is if 2/3rds of the states voted to change the Constitution. In 2016, the states were more sided toward Republicans than Democrats. (There are more red states than blue states.) Therefore, the likelihood that Democrats could remove their 2nd Amendment Right is NIL.

as much as he lies and twists facts... even if only 32% own guns... of them less than 1% ever use them in a crime.

No one is coming for your abortion: they just want common-sense abortion regulations: background checks, waiting periods, lifetime limits, take a class, and a small tax.

Need? why do we need guns? I would say most HOPE they never do. (outside their recrational use)

And YES some of us have known for decades that some do want to take them... most calls for "Reaspnable regulations" is a call for bans.

mathz

320Million people if 38% own guns then that is 120Million gun owners... and 1% of that is 1.2million... there are NOT 1.2Million gun crimes in the US.

Do you guys worry about guns as you walk around over there?

I have no strong opinions on gun ownership in America, i'm just wondering, they're pretty rare over here.

I do. We have a lot of mentally unstable people here with access to as many firearms as they want.

I just started a new job. Want to know what the first training video I had to watch was? : How to handle an active shooter situation!!!!!

Yep, every year teachers have to go thru active shooter classes. It used to be that they would watch a video and that would be their training. Now the PD comes in with guns and all suited up, and take 2X4's and slam them together to mimmick gun shots. sad It's a sad world.

Every day that I drop my daughter off at high school, I worry about guns and active shooters. My daughter has had nightmares. She has come home crying because they announced an active shooter (drill) but didn't inform the kids it was a drill. Even the teachers were traumatized that day.

Yes. People get shot frequently in the US, including collaterally and by accident. Lots of car break-ins are looking for firearms.

If Democrats were going to limit gun access, they'd do it the way REpublicans do with abortions, which is, make it such a pain in the ass to get them that people stop even seeing it as an option. They won't change the amenment.

My thing is, it's all a bunch of electoral hot air and much like the abortion debate, it's a waste of time that could be used for other stuff. Roe v Wade is done, it's not going to be turned over, just like the 2nd Amendment isn't going to be repealed. The best the Dems can do is to mandate use of stuff like the NICS (FBI database that, if every state contributed, would have likely prevented the Vegas, VA Tech, and probalby many other shootings) and stop getting trolled by the NRA into crafting "newer & tougher (tm)" bills and starting at square one all the time and wasting time trying to craft new bill sthat won't do anything that existing ones can't.

you are wrong. actually way over 60% of guns are used in crimes

btw, I use a non-linear function to calculate percentage.

and yes, I can do that

But, big but, we have enough gun nuts. We need to be more honest in our language and call these kooks what they are--death merchants.
