Please stop this embarrassing thread where people who are define fascism are called "left." You may as well say "well, Fascist Italy used electricity and so did the US under Obama so obviously he was a fascist." The utter gobbledygook in this thread is a sight to behold.

Fascism always takes on the individual characteristics of the country it is in, leading to very different regimes. For instance, Paxton wrote in "The Five Stages of Fascism" that "religion … would play a much greater role in authentic fascism in the United States" than it would in the more secular Europe. National variants of fascism differ more broadly than national variants of, for instance, communism or capitalism, Paxton said.

Further complicating matters, nonfascist governments have often mimicked elements of fascist regimes to give the appearance of force and national vitality, Paxton said. For example, mass mobilizations of citizens in colored shirts do not automatically equate to a fascist political practice, he said.

.

The word's prevalence in common vernacular also causes definition problems. "As of now, the term 'fascist' has been used as an insult so much [that] it has diluted the meaning, and in particular the evil nature the word carries," Montague explained.

Unlike most other political, social or ethical philosophies — such as communism, capitalism, conservatism, liberalism or socialism — fascism does not have a set philosophy. As Paxton wrote, "There was no 'Fascist Manifesto,' no founding fascist thinker."

.

.

"We've got an oligarchy [Defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as "a small group of people having control of a country or organization"] that has learned some clever maneuvers to win popular support with rhetorical devices that resemble fascism," Paxton continued. "For instance, the United States is in significantly better shape than Germany or Italy were after World War I. However, some politicians have convinced many Americans that the situation is similarly dire."

.

Every ism takes on the individual characteristics of the country it is leading to very different regimes. Communism in Cuba, China, North Korea and the former USSR is very different. Capitalism is different in Japan than in USA. Conservatism, socialism, etc all take on unique national characteristics. Even if you could justify that, somehow, all other isms have less national variations as Paxton claims, it is a circular argument: A philosophy founded on aggressive nationalism will always take on its national identity aggressively.

.

Do other isms mimic fascism? All isms are a complex sets of elements that are a mix of borrowing from each other and rejecting each other. Fascism mimics and rejects just the same as all isms. The only time left and right was pure was when in the meeting were the terms were created: those on the left hand side wanted a more complete overthrow of French aristocracy and class system, those on the right hand side were more conservative. Everything else has been added since. Most of the time when other regimes appear to be borrowing from Fascism, they are just being authoritarian, whether they be more left or more right in other areas. They are not being more fascist, just being bigger barstards. None of this changes the fact that Fascism is a far right rejection of Communism. It grew out unstable times when people were becoming more extreme and it was violently opposed to, and opposed by, the extremist on the other side - the socialists and communists in Italy, Germany, Spain etc.

.

There is nothing unique about sharing views across the political divide: Socially left wing people joined with right wing libertarians against the trade union left and traditional conservative right on marriage equality.

.

The "evil" nature of the term in common vernacular is because they lost. The same thing can be said about the term "communist" in many parts of the world. This is the key reason the far right seeks to use the term against people they are opposed to. This is why you have far right people seeking to call the other side fascist, seeking to change the vernacular and make it a term to use against antifa or any left wing authoritianists. Miss use of the term by the far right does not mean fascism is a far left thing (as Only pretends) or comes just as much from the left as from the right - it comes from rejecting the left, just as Mussolini did.

.

The fascist manifesto by its founding Fascist thinker is call "Il manifesto dei fasci italiani di combattimento". And there are many others.

The difference is, everyone knows that anyone who genuinely hates you for any of those things is an idiot and shouldn't really be taken seriously, and fortunately, those folks are more and more deciding to be silent rather than expose themselves.

Conversely, people who publicly disagree with left wing orthodoxy have lost jobs, relationships, been doxxed, and had their lives turned upside down simply because they disagree with someone. And that is a great way to get someone to hate you, by removing someone's ability to make a living just because you disagree with their politics.

But you don't mention one important fact: that those people are no longer "silent " , and right now have an extreme example of their idiocy in the White House running our country and making policy (and surrounded by sycophants who excuse or ignore all of his bigotry and misogyny and homophobia in order to hold on to power). What you see as "idiocy " is actual warfare against other Americans (and other human beings who might not be citizens)

Why should they be silent? Their opinions are awful, but they have a right to say them just like you have a right to call them idiots.

One of my friends in Atlanta used to say, "I'd rather those motherfuckers say their opinions out loud, because that way I know to stay my ass away from them."

I never said they should be silent...You implied that they WERE silent, and I pointed out that in the age of Trump outright bigotry is more out in the open

Your quote : "The difference is, everyone knows that anyone who genuinely hates you for any of those things is an idiot and shouldn't really be taken seriously, and fortunately, those folks are more and more deciding to be silent rather than expose themselves."

oh grow up

#116 you do it to avoid the heat. IE Passive Aggressive

you and your cheerleaders

you keep finding yourself in my lane. Replying to my posts then cry when I don't respond the way you want to. Stay out of my kitchen if you don't like my heat.
2 yrs of you doing the same thing over and over.

Simple.

The question is - why the heat in the first place? You attack me no matter how I post. There are posters on all the forums who never use reply/quote. Do you call them passive-agressive and tell them to stay in their lane? No. And I don't cry over your bullshit either.

Leave me alone and focus on your own life. Some of the things you've said in this thread are not only mis-informed, they're hurtful - to certain groups especially.

You continue to break the org rules of flaming and discussing people instead of ideas. You seem to be obsessed with controlling people in threads, ignoring the topic, and repeatedly lashing out and going personal. Why is that?

You create the heat. Who posted to who? It is usually you making some kind of asshat reply to something I said or did. IE 'Why is the reply whited out??' You start it all the time. I know you don't want me posting, but that is your issue.

#22 Why is almost everything in the post whited out, and then only part of a sentence used to make a point? This kind of response is too reductive to be evaluated in the discussion. It's like using a soundbite or meme to answer something much more complex, rendering it fairly meaningless.

.

WHO said that Poppy? Absolutely now reason or call for it whatsoever other than to start shit.

.

I usually AVOID replying to you. You in every thread indirectly or directly reply to my post with conflict.

.

If they are hurtful then stay out of my lane. You have had many things snipped that were disrespectful to other members. Just because you disagree with them doesn't make it right to say what you did. You attack flame and disregard the rules toward any member that is on the opposing side of your views. You call OnlyNd a racist you attack other members all the time. Sweep around your own front porch.
.
Stay out of my lane.
