post #55 the Right & Left exemplify different aspects of Fascism

.

.

.

"The Five Stages of Fascism," published in 1998 in the Journal of Modern History, he defined seven feelings that act as "mobilizing passions" for fascist regimes. They are:

  1. The primacy of the group. Supporting the group feels more important than maintaining either individual or universal rights.
  2. Believing that one's group is a victim. This justifies any behavior against the group's enemies.
  3. The belief that individualism and liberalism enable dangerous decadence and have a negative effect on the group.
  4. A strong sense of community or brotherhood. This brotherhood's "unity and purity are forged by common conviction, if possible, or by exclusionary violence if necessary."
  5. Individual self-esteem is tied up in the grandeur of the group. Paxton called this an "enhanced sense of identity and belonging."
  6. Extreme support of a "natural" leader, who is always male. This results in one man taking on the role of national savior.
  7. "The beauty of violence and of will, when they are devoted to the group's success in a Darwinian struggle," Paxton wrote. The idea of a naturally superior group or, especially in Hitler's case, biological racism, fits into a fascist interpretation of Darwinism.

Fascism always takes on the individual characteristics of the country it is in, leading to very different regimes. For instance, Paxton wrote in "The Five Stages of Fascism" that "religion … would play a much greater role in authentic fascism in the United States" than it would in the more secular Europe. National variants of fascism differ more broadly than national variants of, for instance, communism or capitalism, Paxton said.

Further complicating matters, nonfascist governments have often mimicked elements of fascist regimes to give the appearance of force and national vitality, Paxton said. For example, mass mobilizations of citizens in colored shirts do not automatically equate to a fascist political practice, he said.

.

The word's prevalence in common vernacular also causes definition problems. "As of now, the term 'fascist' has been used as an insult so much [that] it has diluted the meaning, and in particular the evil nature the word carries," Montague explained.

Unlike most other political, social or ethical philosophies — such as communism, capitalism, conservatism, liberalism or socialism — fascism does not have a set philosophy. As Paxton wrote, "There was no 'Fascist Manifesto,' no founding fascist thinker."

.

.

"We've got an oligarchy [Defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as "a small group of people having control of a country or organization"] that has learned some clever maneuvers to win popular support with rhetorical devices that resemble fascism," Paxton continued. "For instance, the United States is in significantly better shape than Germany or Italy were after World War I. However, some politicians have convinced many Americans that the situation is similarly dire."

That has nothing to do with the slogan you posted, the Jews might not have had Joy in the Holocaust, but maybe some of them did. But if you can define 'joy'....

"Strength through Joy"

WHAT???

"Strength Through Joy" was a slogan used to brainwash Nazi Youth, who had been taken from their parents, and trained to accept and commit atrocities. Get to reading.

WHATTT? oh stop

If you know anything about Jewish faith and Christian faith you would understand.

'joy in tribulation'

You still haven't answered that. You have not defined what you think Joy is, to be able to say, they had no Joy. Define joy and stop with the bleeding heart comments.

Youth all over the world take to slogans to brainwash them or get them to follow a movement.

Mussolini's 1919 fascism mixed extreme nationalist expansion with social programs like women's suffrage and workers' power.

Derek Sivers

from the book “Hell Yeah or No”:

Smart people don’t think others are stupid

2012-05-16

The woman seemed to be making some pretty good points until she stopped with, “Ugh! Those people are just so stupid!!”

She could have said Southerners, Northerners, Liberals, Conservatives, Chinese, or Americans. It doesn’t matter. She just proved that she wasn’t being smart.

There are no smart people or stupid people, just people being smart or being stupid.

Being smart means thinking things through. It means trying to find the real answer, not the easiest answer.

Being stupid means avoiding thinking by jumping to conclusions. Jumping to a conclusion is like quitting a game. You lose by default.

That’s why saying “I don’t know” is usually smart — because it’s refusing to jump to a conclusion.

So when someone says, “They’re so stupid!” it means they’ve stopped thinking. They say it because it’s satisfying to jump to that conclusion.

So if you decide someone is stupid, it means you’re not thinking, which is not being smart.

Therefore, smart people don’t think others are stupid.

of course 2Freaky use a flame bait term of 'hate' which is not even accountable as love is not either in this type of discourse. The descriptions used to describe the other side is not about Hate or Love.

And each descriptor is something both use toward the other. Not to mention terms people in general use to describe other people. For example in this thread alone. It would be people on the Left who use terms to personally attack others who are in a differing opinion(strawman arguements). Even though org rule say it is a good idea to discussion opinions not persons. It is usually the same 'persons' who make the discussion/arguements personal as if they cannot control their emotional responses.

.

.

.

If we look at the chart provided in the link, both parties are neck in neck

Growing shares in both parties give ‘cold’ ratings to those in opposing party

The survey by Pew Research Center was conducted Sept. 3-15 among 9,895 adults (it was completed before House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Sept. 24 announcement of an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump). It finds that both Republicans and Democrats express negative views about several traits and characteristics of those in the opposing party, and in some cases these opinions have grown more negative since 2016.

It is. And others have called it that too. I've explained it to you before. you keep doing it.

Instead of replying to the person you are replying to, you post(not reply) disconnected which make it confusing. So anyone reading has to scan back to see who/what you are replying to.

You purposely choose not to hit reply.

It's passive aggressive.

.
For the record you said "icon_bored.gif this is just too stupid" nothing more, nothing to explain who are what you were talking about.

.

Again not replying to any individual post, and with no commentary as you indicate that you did above, which you actually did not. which takes us back to what I said about you posting causing someone to have to figure out what you're talking about and who/what you are replying to.

You did not say 'icon_bored.gif this is just too stupid, to have multiple meanings of any random word. There is no path to discuss things way..."

.

That is passive aggressive posting and post #101 still stands about people who call something/someone stupid.

.

Instead of saying 'you know what? I actually don't have a definition for joy' you just resort to calling it 'stupid'. There is a path of discussion. And you chose to be frustrated and call it stupid.

But if someone posted the same questions to me or any other person you tend to disagree with, you would have 'cosigned' and clapping clapping ed

unless you do not like the person or what they have to say... you got all mad when antifa was criticized for using violence to stop someone they did not like from speaking... you called that a violation of free speech! you seem to think that violence is free speech!

No one is coming for your abortion: they just want common-sense abortion regulations: background checks, waiting periods, lifetime limits, take a class, and a small tax.

There is nothing passive about my posting.

For the Record - I did not call anyone stupid. I did not say "They're so stupid!"

I called last night's discussion stupid because it became about multiple meanings of any random word. There is no path to discuss things this way without every post being dragged off-topic into some kind of free association word cloud.

Because THIS is what I get when I do use reply/quote. #26 in this thread:

Why is almost everything in the post whited out, and then only part of a sentence used to make a point? This kind of response is too reductive to be evaluated in the discussion. It's like using a soundbite or meme to answer something much more complex, rendering it fairly meaningless.

was wondering when you were going to show up...

Why do you need to know.

Can you read what is 'grayed'? If I wanted it whited out you wouldn't see it.
Simply and plainly because the part that is not 'grayed' is the part my response is focused on.
Just as if you bolded something to reply to.

.

Why are you problematic? JJ can deal with JJ, I don't need you running interference and getting in my lane and then crying that you think I'm going to ban you. If you weren't busy being problematic. You would be able to look and see that the dark part is what I directly replied to. Keep trolling.

oh please. problematic. You just don't see it at all. And you keep doing it.

You reply(when I wasn't talking to you) with: "Why is almost everything in the post whited out, and then only part of a sentence used to make a point? This kind of response is too reductive to be evaluated in the discussion. It's like using a soundbite or meme to answer something much more complex, rendering it fairly meaningless."

.

And what did you expect? And you don't see why what you did there was just totally uncalled for?

You keep putting yourself in my lane. I think you like getting run over.

.

So you admit you're being passive aggressive

Countless posters on the org don't use reply/quote much or any of the time. So what? Why aren't you going after them"

Whatever psycho-babble box you want to put me in doesn't fit, even with a shoehorn.
