Rand Paul blocks 9/11 First Responders bill. Fiendish

Jesus, is this libertarianism? I know you hate big government but would you not call an ambulance for someone having a heart attack? Did everybody in the GOP take asshole pills? This is sick. They risked their lives because they wanted to help other Americans trapped in the rubble. I loath what the war for Terror became, but you don't screw over the people with heart and true grit? I predict Paul will not be Senator next time because of this. Jon Stewart is going to be livid.

The bill was blocked from passage

That the shithead who blocked it will approve it if it fucks over first responders to his satisfaction puts it into delay does not change the fact that that piece of shit blocked it from passing

What prob will happen is he will relent, being pointed out what an absolute piece of shit he is for doing this. He blocked and delayed, and he shoukd absolutely suffer the consequences of doing so.

I dont care what side of the aisle you are, hes an absolute piece of shit for blocking this from immediate passage. There is no excuse for this.

So, it turns out he's not actually "blocking" the bill, but rather asking for an "amendment to offset the costs". It'll go through, and probably without his amendment.

This is consistent with his fiscally conservative platforms. He's not trying to stop it, just trying to nail down how we'll pay for it.

Not as bad as it was made out to be, but he's still on the wrong side here. If ANYONE deserves the money it's the 9/11 first responders. Paul should worry about other ways to be fiscally responsible, the First Responders bill is a no-brainer and should be supported by all Americans regardless of politics.

Keep fighting Jon Stewart. We thank you.

He stopped it from being fast tracked by putting it through the normal process so he can offer an amendment to the budget. Reduce spending from somewhere to direct the spending to this bill.

First Responders are going to get their money. The politics will be when congressfolk will have to vote down an amendment on cutting pork spending to avoid new spending.

Literally the job of Congress. Not the act of a non compassionate demon people are making it out to be.

Are they going to get their money while they are all still alive, or is Rand Paul waiting for them to die off so the US can save money?

A clip of Jon Stewart was just on the news. He said they pull out a credit card for all kinds of stupid spending and yet we can't take care of first responders. This isn't just fireman either. It's police, rescue workers, EMT's and all the support people that were there.

Which is literally Rand Paul's point. There stupid spending, and these funds are the best reasons why the gov could finally cut the shit spending and focus on valuable meaningful spending.

However, Jon Stewart is a statist, so of course he's railing against things like tax cuts. Why can't both Jon and Rand be correct and we cut dumb shit for actual purposeful spending?

Because tax cuts have never, ever done anything to the budget except increase our deficits and therefore our debt.

For Rand Paul to vote for tax cuts for which we have irrefutable proof from both Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush's tax cuts that tax cuts will absolutely, positively increase the deficit and therefore the national debt substantially, and then say "Oh, I can't vote for this because it isn't paid for", is the height of duplicity.

I have lost every ounce of respect I used to have for Rand Paul.

One of 2 holdouts and he's a physician, I'm not buying it. Another responder just died today.

Maybe they should have waited until they did a bean count before he got medical care when his neighbor attacked him.

The remarks he made today show that he clearly can't stand Jon Stewart. Plus, Paul got lots of press for doing this, he seems to crave attention from his past antics.

If they are going to make this about costs, some of these men and women already died, do they want to drag it out until they are all dead and they don’t have to pay for their medical expenses.

You do realize that Daupin is saying that OTHER "dumb shit" should be cut, and that the 911 Responder is a good thing ("purposeful") to spend the money on... Right?

Why be so hostile with someone that basically agrees with you?

Right? Stroke the fires of fiscal bureaacracy while people are DYING RIGHT NOW. It's like standing at the desk of the ER with your dying brother collapsing beside beside you, fidgeting through your wallet about which credit card to hand to the hospital clerk! Fucking hand them ANY card and worry about moving funds around later to offset the cost.

This is literally a life and death scenario.

I agree that he's making a huge political error, but that's his m.o.

So, my understanding is that this bill is literally only to extend funding until 2090. In other words, the fund is fully funded CURRENTLY. Am I mistaken in this? Is the fund out of money and people are dying due to lack of funding?
