Are you under the impression that I have said anything which suggests I should give a shit about the code? Why would I care? What does that have to do with any argument I've made here?

Whether it is or not has no bearing on ANY of my comments in this thread.

And, regardless, the supreme court has ruled that freedom of speech supercedes the code.

If you got this wrong (and you did):

I don't know and I don't care about the code. It's not about the stupid code to me. It's a code, not a law, so unless you work for the government, who gives a shit.

Then pretty much your entire premise is wrong.

You just make yourself look even worse by refusing to admit your error.

effectively, yes. Which is what I said. it is not a violation to have a flag like image on a shoe.

You can desecrate a flag cupcake with your tongue all you want. Nothing new.

The POINT here is that NIKE is willing to pull a questionable product - because of the MESSAGE they want their company to stand for. Good on them. Positive role model.

Nike and Kaepernick joined forces last year, with Kaepernick becoming a popular endorser of a brand that also provides shoes and apparel to the NFL. The relationship has resulted in increased sales for Nike.

What do you all make of this?

Arizona governor says he wants to yank Nike's tax breaks over sneaker controversy

New York (CNN Business)Arizona Governor Doug Ducey has ordered a financial incentive package for Nike to be withdrawn because the company canceled a sneaker featuring the "Betsy Ross" American flag.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/...index.html

I am a bit uneasy over this. This is the government punishing speech. I am not sure this will happen.

What say you all?

You are some kind of special, indeed!

Law, or not, it's unenforcable. You've been given two supreme court cases that prove this.

Is a law that cannot be enforced a valid law?

I don't think it's government punishing speech. It's a business reaction to a business reaction.

Since there are those that say they don't care about the flag code, because it is freedom speech. Then you must support Colin K. kneeling during the National Anthem. That is a form of protest speech. Yes?

Yes! It is EXACTLY the same. Colin has every right to protest the National Anthem, however, just like disrespecting the flag, since the Anthem represents the country which gives him the right, it if fundamentally stupid of him to choose to do so.

McConnell urges Nike to release 'Betsy Ross' shoes: 'I'll make the first order'Marina Pitofsky

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Tuesday said he disagreed with Nike's decision to scrap a shoe line for July Fourth that featured a Revolutionary War-era flag designed by Betsy Ross.

"If we're in a political environment where the American flag has become controversial to Americans, I think we've got a problem," McConnell told reporters during a trip to a Lexington, Ky., hemp farm, according to the Lexington Herald Leader.

"I hope Nike either releases these shoes or some other shoe maker picks up the flag, puts it on a pair of shoes and starts selling it. I'll make the first order," he added.

Nike was blasted this week for reportedly nixing plans to release a sneaker featuring the early-American flag to celebrate Independence Day after former NFL player Colin Kaepernick told the brand the image was associated with an era of slavery.

The shoe company has defended its decision, saying it "regularly" withdraws "initiatives, products and services."

"NIKE made the decision to halt distribution of the Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July based on concerns that it could unintentionally offend and detract from the nation's patriotic holiday," Nike said in a statement to The Hill earlier Tuesday.

Nike has faced backlash for the decision from other Republican lawmakers and organizations over the canceled shoe design.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey (R) announced that he would ask the state government to pull financial incentives for the company. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) also tweeted that he would no longer buy Nike products.

you are confused... my exercising my free speech to call his fool ass out is not the same as my supporting his free speech.

I do call him colon because he is full of "it." I did change his last name too... and I think I admitted that was a bit too much. It was very poor taste and I should and do apologize to people who have had cancer. I do wonder if you call out people when they have called people a "Cancer"

But YES I support that vomit's right to say dumb ass stuff that would if he got his way would have much less comfortable life.

Remember you and I and pretty much every single one here (actually all of us) life a life of great privilege. Living in a developed nation is a great privilege... do you deny your privilege? your double Privlage? *White and Developed world?*
