At least 4 dead in shooting in Australian city of Darwin

Police at a crime scene on the intersection of McMinn Street and Stuart Highway in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia, on June 4, 2019.

MELBOURNE, Australia — Media reports say a gunman has killed at least four people in the Australian city of Darwin.

Northern Territory Police Duty Superintendent Lee Morgan says a 45-year-old man was in custody following Tuesday's shooting.

Morgan told Guardian Australia, "At this stage we've got reports of four deceased and a number of other people who have been shot."

Police contacted by The Associated Press declined to comment.

Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported that a man fired a pump action shotgun at the Palms Hotel in the suburb of Woolner in the late afternoon.

Waitaminute... this can't be true. Shootings NEVER happen in Australia, especially "mass shootings". They have restrictive gun laws which prevent this kind of thing. No?

Apparently the suspect was know to police, was on parole and wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet. He was looking for someone named Alex and shot into every room in the motel.

.

My prayers and thoughts are with the victims, their families and friends as well as the other people in the motel.

falloff lol lol lol

You think so?

I guess I haven't seen (over and over again) people saying mass shootings never happen in Australia because of the strict gun laws? Must have imagined it, huh?

Stats that don't take into account population size, suicides, accidents, etc. do NOT cause me to "implode". lol razz

If there were real gun regulations in the US, all gun deaths would be reduced, including suicides.

It's almost like he's happy there was a mass murder, so he could post something snarky about gun legislation. Weird.

What the gun nuts never consider is how many of the gun deaths in Australia were suicides, too.

They never want to compare apples to apples because they know they'll lose.

Like I always say:

You're either with the shooters, or you're with the victims.

And it's always easy to see which side someone is on.

I know that was over your head.

so again:

if you are for regulations of ANY kind then you are also against the 2nd. that's a simple fact.
yet you call out people who also are for regulations (that simply are different than your regulations) for being against the 2nd

and that makes you a HYPOCRITE.
and saying that is simply a provable fact and not yet namecalling

take your time. think it over. then come back

no it makes me reasonable. it also means I am thoughtful and flexible. It mean I have thought about what the 2A says, especially as to the use of the term "Arms" and how it speaks of "the right" but doesn't say what that RIGHT is.

I assume you support the right to vote...correct? But can I vote 200 times? Can I not be required to some standards to be allowed to vote?

or speech! should I be allowed to say anything I want and not be arrested?
