I think many people are debating whether should could be considered "super hot", not if it's relevent or not

I am not sure it has much to do with anything... if anything (and I have not always been perfect) it is a bit misogynistic... or narrow and demining. how she looks has nothing to do with anything.

there is a bit too much body shaming and too much focus on looks these days.

agreed completely

the fact that she's super hot is irrelevant

We get it- YOU find her "super hot "...

And I do not.

I love talking about films. I've been a huge movie buff since I was a kid.

This particular film has some amazing dialog, and is full of quotable lines. A very similar film that came out the same year (1957) was "A Face in the Crowd" starring Andy Griffith, which like "SSOS", shows the real person behind the beloved show business facade.

I’ve been wanting to see that film because it keeps getting referenced to the trump ascension. I’ll put that on my watch list. I know I’ve looked for it before on the streaming options.

TCM will be showing "A Face in the Crowd" on Wednesday Jan 10th

Thanks for the heads up!

And if you have a Roku, (and I think Google Chrome}, TCM now has an app called "Watch TCM" , which will usually allow you to stream the film for usually about a week after the airing. This function is also available on the TCM website as well.

Is this meant as a joke ? We seem to be going in circles here.

If I'm not mistaken- YOU personally find this Candice Owens woman to be "Super Hot", while many of us do not....Does that sum it up ?

Finally got around to listening to it - at least the first half. (I'm not sure I need another hour!) It's the first I've seen of young Candace, and though I think she's profoundly and demonstrably wrong about several aspects of her argument, I have to say I liked her better than a lot of the smarmy right-wing ghouls out there (Shapiro, Rubin, Peterson, etc feeling ill), and I didn't think she was an idiot; she's just bought-into a flawed ideology. I suspect she may be much, much worse in other contexts, though, and I can imagine her being one of those wretched paid talking heads, baiting her liberal equivalents in shouty televised spectacles that leave no-one any more enlightened.

Brand, for all his faults, tends to bring the best out in his guests, as he creates a good rapport with them. I also always appreciate that he seems genuinely interested in finding 'something' through these discussions, rather than just being a standard-issue host helping create content in the gaps between the ad breaks. It means one gets the sense of an actual conversation taking place, not just a 'segment', and there are usually some odd but interesting little twists and turns (e.g. asking economist Yanis Varoufakis about God).

He could do with sharpening up his arguments, though, as he sometimes lets hustlers like Owens - and especially Peterson - get away with too much. All that stuff about 'victim mentality', the romanticising of family and 'community', and the hoary old bootstraps ideology are easily refuted, but our Russ can be a bit fuzzy on the counter.

she's cute though

but that irrelevant lol

the whole kanye thing left her with so much egg on her face

although i agree with deebee... she's no idiot ... and russell did struggle a bit... he obviously fancied her... and he didn't do a great job of refuting some of her arguments... i still quite like him though... i believe his heart's in the right place
