Proof that there is no god....

If there would be a god, would he not have those people who 'represent' him on this earth and do kiddy porn immediately killed by lightning?

Child porn found in the Catholic Diocese of Limburg, Germany.

Religious people often point to free will as an answer why God does not interfer, or use the "The devil made me do it" excuse.

Was Marc Dutroux religious? Suggesting that religion is the cause of child molesting is nonsense. This thread is just like the ones you start about climate change: you haven't proved a thing.

I agree with the first part if only because you don't have to believe in God to agree with it.

No... As it teaches in the Bible, God is patient with us and does not want anyone to perish. If he would immediatley "zap them with lightning," they would not have a chance to learn from their mistakes and repent. All religion and all churches are made up of human beings and all human beings are sinners, from the biggest atheist to the biggest Christian, all are sinners and no one is perfect. Evil and sin exist everywhere, even in religion and churches.

There are Atheist that look at child porn too? Is Atheism to blame? There are teachers and principals in the education system that look at child porn or have sexual relationship with students. Are schools to blame? Shut we shut down all schools? There are government officials of all parties that have looked at child porn. Is their political party to blame? Should we shut down the government?

It's easy to look at so-called religious people and call them hypocrites because they are doing wrong but everyone is a sinner, the difference is those that do not have any belief system do not have any official morale code that they can be called out for violating but all humans are sinners. Being part of a religion does not take away the temptations of the world.

Many people (including myself) that have had loved ones suffering from disease or illness or special needs can attest that while the situation may have been very difficult at times, it was a blessing in disguise. If you haven't gone through it, it can be hard to understand but there are countless stories of parents and family members sharing how a terrible situation brought about so much good for all involved. Having a sick family member can really teach you what is truly important in life and teach you to see people in different ways. Many people who are sick are actually healthier (in terms of being a loving person) than people who are healthy in body but spiritual sick (in terms of being hateful human beings).

Religion is fucked up.

Tweety that is no proof there is no god. (Aren't you proud of me, Freaky?) That is only proof that power corrupts and abolute power corrupts absolutely.

And I'm sure you know that the Catholic church is not the only religion guilty of this. FLDS with Warren Jeffs, Deciples of Christ with Jim Jones, The Branch Davidians with David Koresh.

And there are plenty of non-religious folk that are f*^ked up too.

It is kind of crappy that the Church may have known what was happening but chose to cover it up. That is politics, not religion.

Style is the second cousin to class

let me explain furthor .... i have always seen what you describe in - say a loved one that goes thru cancer and how it pulls together the whole family in so many ways ....

its terrible yet ... can bring out the good in all the people ....

as a parent of a special needs child - its one thing i do wrestle with though ... i do admit ... my child isnt that bad etc but when i do see a child that ... has very little hope ...or ... just a horrible prognosis etc .... it makes what we go thru seem so small etc ....

i was lucky enough to see someone .... a parent .... go thru having a young girl like 2 years old ... going thru cancer ... and her faith thru the whole ordeal was just uplifting .... i have to say ... i kept some of her "positive" posts and messages .... truly inspiring .... yet ... you still question ...

i mean it is called faith ...

you may be able to argue the case for a deistic creator that has no interaction with his creation or for a god that's either not Omni benelovent or not all powerful but your argument is clearly not proof of a god's non existence.

Religion is fucked up.

God is not a person. "god" is an energy that is part of everything that exsists good or bad, and much more beyond of what our train of thought here is. We are just part of that experience good or horrifyingly bad unfortunatley.

Should we just assume that you meant to preface that with "I believe that" as opposed to stating it as empirical fact which would then require that you provide evidence?

nod

Just like everyones assumption is because no one does or will ever have 'proof'. When you enter a conversation about 'god' you have to dive in knowing that fact *that all there is - is faith on an assumption*

The Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM) is the deity of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster or Pastafarianism (a portmanteau of pasta and Rastafarian), a social movement that promotes a light-hearted view of religion and opposes the teaching of intelligent design and creationism in public schools. According to adherents, Pastafarianism is a "real, legitimate religion, as much as any other".[3] Pastafarianism is legally recognized as a religion in the Netherlands[4] and New Zealand – where Pastafarian representatives have been authorized to celebrate weddings and where the first legally recognized Pastafarian wedding was performed in April 2016.[5][6][7] In the United States the same month, a federal judge ruled that the "Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster" is not a real religion.[8]

The "Flying Spaghetti Monster" was first described in a satirical open letter written by Bobby Henderson in 2005 to protest the Kansas State Board of Education decision to permit teaching intelligent design as an alternative to evolution in public school science classes.[9] After Henderson published the letter on his website, the Flying Spaghetti Monster rapidly became an Internet phenomenon and a symbol of opposition to the teaching of intelligent design in public schools.[10]

Because of its popularity and exposure, the Flying Spaghetti Monster is often used as a contemporary version of Russell's teapot—an argument that the philosophic burden of proof lies upon those who make unfalsifiable claims, not on those who reject them. Pastafarianism has received praise from the scientific community and criticism from proponents of intelligent design. Pastafarians have engaged in disputes with creationists, including in Polk County, Florida, where they played a role in dissuading the local school board from adopting new rules on teaching evolution.[11]

Pastafarian tenets (generally satires of creationism) are presented both on Henderson's Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster website, where he is described as "prophet", and in The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, written by Henderson in 2006. The central belief is that an invisible and undetectable Flying Spaghetti Monster created the universe. Pirates are revered as the original Pastafarians.[12] Henderson asserts that a decline in the number of pirates over the years is the cause of global warming.[13] The FSM community congregates at Henderson's website to share ideas about the Flying Spaghetti Monster and crafts representing images of it.[3] So-called "sightings" of the Flying Spaghetti Monster are also discussed. Critics attribute such sightings to pareidolia, a tendency to perceive patterns in nature where no such patterns exist.[14]

It is my belief and experience that He does intervene, just not always the way we would like him to. For example, we may want him to fully cure our loved ones who are sick or dying, but He intervenes by helping us to cope and get through the situation as best as possible. By comforting and strengthening us and our loved ones and helping us to come closer together during those difficult times... And even by blessing our loved ones with a peaceful death surrounded by loved ones. I've personally experienced this with several family members and especially during this past year. Something I read online that may seem corny but makes sense... "We ask God to change our situation, not knowing He put us in the situation to change us."

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/woman-died-arm-stuck-donation-bin-steali-article-1.2967287

It turns out Judith Permar wasn't trying to help those who are less fortunate — she was stealing from them.

The Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania woman was found dead Monday after she got her arm stuck in a clothing donation bin that had collapsed beneath her. Permar, who broke her arm and wrist, died of a combination of hypothermia and trauma.

It wasn't immediately clear why Permar was at the drop-off box, but Mount Carmel Township police chief Brian Hollerbush told the Associated Press on Wednesday that the 56-year-old was taking bags of clothes out of the bin.

"She was fishing bags out and the ladder she was standing on gave way and she couldn't get her hand loose," he said.
