Jehovah's Witnesses cannot throw stones on that one Rodman. How many pedophiles are being protected in the JW congregations?

To be fair, all religions are magnets for these creeps but the JWs are just as culpable as the rest as long as there is the two witness rule and people are not warned of any pedophiles in their congregations.

Back on topic, the shirts are cheesy but sometimes people want a souvenir and these days that is most often a t shirt.

Frankly, I'm sort of taken aback to see any stone throwing toward other religious groups at all being that JW have always seemed to me to be rather self contained, and the way they place emphasis on not being "worldly".

To be fair, I usually see it with witnesses on the org. I have rarely heard a JW in real life do so much bashing of other christians...they are much more enthused about spreading their own doctrine to dwell on put-downs.

You are being grossly unfair making such a comparison. Answer me this; where can you have guaranteed safety for children? The most common source of abuse comes from relatives but even police officers, social workers and foster parents have abused such positions of trust. There is no place that these people can't infiltrate. So why should Kingdom Hall's be any different? All meetings and assembly's are open to the public so that risk will always be there.

Yes, the Bible does require two witnesses to confirm a matter but so does the law of the land with the exception of other evidence i.e. medical DNA or otherwise. But you cannot convict another person for any crime just solely on the basis of someone saying so.

To state that Jehovah's Witnesses are just as culpable and that paedophiles are protected is both inaccurate and slanderous. These figures from 2007 cover the United States; In the last 100 years in over 12,300 congregations with 80,000 serving as elders there has been 6 convictions of child abuse. Obviously one is too much! Catholic clergymen have systematically sexually abused many thousands with the majority unable to come forward, the total must be enormous.

Catholic clergymen were moved all over the country leaving a trail of shattered life's, not just in America but on an international scale. It's frightening to think of the scale of this. This of course was not something happening in the shadows but both the present and previous pope knew all this was going on and they did nothing.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not give paedophiles special anonymity nor do they move them from congregation to congregation to save face unlike the Catholic Church. They are disfellowshipped and have criminal charges pressed. Let me leave you with no doubt, if I personally came across this I would inform the police immediately! Unfortunately no where is entirely safe of such evil.

This started as a light hearted look at Catholic merchandise - a source of fun probably since St Peter.

To see this devolve into a JW attack on others and then a counter attack is depressing. Hopefully, I am the only one or one of the few orgers who can speak from experience of sexual abuse by a religious minister - and that evil person was NOT a Catholic. I think this was uncalled for here. There have been plenty of threads here on this topic which I have steared clear of for personal reasons only to see it raised in a point scoring exercise.

To bring the fun back: A religious relic salesman carrying two skulls approached a tourist and said holding up the larger skull "I will sell you the skull of St Fred for $1,000.

The tourist said "I can't afford that"

The salesman holds up the smaller skull and says "How about his skull from when he was a child for just $500"

I understand that it is a joke, but there has to be some sort of truthfulness in order for it to be percevied as a joke.

The bones of famous people are held by some religious groups as relics. There was a trade in such relics in Medieval times. I am not aware of a current trade.

The truth behind the joke is from the past when people would buy relics such as splinters from the Cross, etc. Most of these were fake - it was said that pilgrims have bought a forest worth of such splinters.
