i am so sick of the anti muslim baiting-am i overeacting about this email?

for those of you who dont know im a charge nurse in ICU so we have the "intranet" which is hospital based and we have internal emails

occasionally we get block sent ones which cover ALL specialities approximating 3000 staff

i just received this....

It is a matter of history that when Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, General Dwight Eisenhower, found the victims of the death camps, he ordered all possible photographs to be taken, and for the German people from surrounding villages to be ushered through the camps and even made to bury the dead.

He did this because he said in words to this effect: 'Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses - because somewhere down the track of history some b*stard will get up and say that this never happened'
'All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing'
Edmund Burke

This week, the UK removed The Holocaust from its school curriculum because it 'offended' the Muslim population who claim it never occurred.

This is a frightening portent of the fear that is gripping the world and how easily each country is giving in to it.

These photos were taken in Germany by James Emison Chanslor, an Army Master Sergeant who served in World War II from 1942 until 1945.

It is now more than 60 years after the Second World War in Europe ended.

This e-mail is being sent as a memorial chain, in memory of the
six million Jews, 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians and 1,900 Catholic priests who were murdered, massacred, raped, burned, starved and humiliated with the German and Russian peoples looking the other way!
Now, more than ever, with Iran , among others, claiming the Holocaust to be 'a myth,' it is imperative to make sure the world never forgets.

This e-mail is intended to reach 40 million people worldwide!

Be a link in the memorial chain and help distribute this around the world.

Don't just delete this. It will only take a minute to pass this along .....

so i reply in block sent formIndeed it is important to remember the past

Although the tone of your email could easily be construed as being slightly xenophobic which im sure was not your intention.

then i have to get this closet racist muthafuckers fact on by dropping this

Do your homework !

This email forward claims that teachings about the Holocaust have been removed from the United Kingdom (UK) school curriculum because their inclusion may offend Muslim citizens. However, this claim is unfounded. The UK government has not banned the teaching of the Holocaust in schools, nor is it planning to do so.

In fact, according to the BBC, "in England, teaching children about the Holocaust is compulsory". While other UK countries such as Scotland and Wales have their own school curriculum and Holocaust teaching is not compulsory, it is certainly not banned and is generally encouraged.

The false information in the message probably arose out of confusion generated by a Historical Association report commissioned by the English Department for Education and Skills. The report states, in part:

"Teachers and schools avoid emotive and controversial history for a variety of reasons, some of which are well-intentioned.

"Staff may wish to avoid causing offence or appearing insensitive to individuals or groups in their classes.

"In particular settings, teachers of history are unwilling to challenge highly contentious or charged versions of history in which pupils are steeped at home, in their community or in a place of worship."

It cites the case of one school that did not select the Holocaust as a topic:

For example, a history department in a northern city recently avoided selecting the Holocaust as a topic for GCSE coursework for fear of confronting anti-Semitic sentiment and Holocaust denial among some Muslim pupils.

Although it does discuss teaching of the Holocaust, the report also references a number of other emotionally charged historical events including the Crusades, slavery and the Arab-Israeli conflict. Thus, the report is certainly not focused just on the Holocaust, nor does it claim in any way that all UK schools have dropped the teaching of controversial historical topics.

Unfortunately, some news items and online commentaries have overstated the significance of the "northern city" example used in the report. In the same paragraph as this example, the report also states, "In another history department, the Holocaust was taught despite anti-Semitic sentiment among some pupils". However, some news articles have apparently chosen to focus primarily on the first example, thereby affording it more importance than it deserves. They have also implied via emotive headlines and news copy that avoiding the Holocaust is a widespread practise in UK schools. This is simply not the case, and such misleading reports have added to the burgeoning anger and confusion surrounding the issue.

Thus, the core claim in this email chain letter is false. The UK Government has not forced schools to drop Holocaust topics. Certainly, we should ensure that our children are taught about the vast human tragedy of the Holocaust and the Second World War. Any attempts by schools or governments to water down or remove historically sensitive topics due to political correctness should be strongly opposed. And we ourselves should never forget. However, forwarding this highly inaccurate and misleading chain email will only serve to sow confusion and misdirected anger. In spite of its claim to be "In Memoriam", the message is not a fitting memorial to victims of the Holocaust or the Second World War and it should not be forwarded.

how the fuck do these cunts always bring it back to muslims??

it incences me how todays media are feeding the brainless to create muslims as a whipping tool

i work with so many fantastic muslim doctors and nurses i cringe when i imagine them reading this bullshit

still everyone with a bit if common sense who knows at least a minimum about the world outside good old USA should be able to identify such a claim as an obvious HOAX.

but now...

just replace Muslims with Evangelical Fundamentalist Christians, and replace Holocaust with Evolution... and suddenly the hoax becomes a nightmare scenario with a very real background.

there is just one industrialised nation where religious lobbies have such influence and power to ruin public education based on their fairly tales. and it certainly ain't the U.K.

Obafemi Martins would put a stop to this nonsense in a flash.

look this holocaust denial thing was in our main paper.
I bet if you actually surveyed the general population the % of denials Christian vs Muslim would be no different.

but we don't want that in the paper no.

Nope. You are not overreacting. The media knows that there are still people what there that are scared of Muslims,blacks..... and we gotta have an enemy.

If we actually traveled to some of these countries and sat with people from othese countries and had a good talk, we would learn so much about them and they would learn more about us. But until that happens, many Americans will fall victim to falling for the same old tricks.

you are partially correct. holocaust and evolution are both well documented facts. now if you say "of history", well it depends. if you are referring to what the fossil record shows, or what evolutionary processes we could observe over longer time periods in the past, then you are even correct with "history". however, in addition to that evolution has much more backup, from biology, genetics, biochemistry and so on. in short, the holocaust and evolution are both proven beyond reasonable doubt.

only a mind deluded by religious brainwashing will make some people ignore those facts. or try to corrupt the educational system. so in that sense yes, my anaology was right on spot.

I take it you have had bad experiences with "religious" folk or maybe a tough life , causing you to dismiss or even hate the notion of a CREATOR, namely, GOD, who brought everything into existence. This is common amongst those who embrace the Theory of Evolution, which , Im afraid to inform you is not a FACT. However, the Holocaust did happen and is fact. Now, on with your life.....

I don´t think you´re overreacting, and the false claim that Muslims believe that the Holocaust never happened is just that...a false claim.
However, there are indeed some Muslims ( but also many Christians ) who really believe that the Holocaust never happened, and anti-Jewish propaganda like Hitler´s "Mein Kampf" and the socalled "Protocols of Zion" ( probably the most dangerous hoax of them all) are selling like hot cakes in some countries, creating antisemitic sentiment and adding fuel to the already burning fire in the Middle East, and irresponsible TV station bosses and book publishers don´t have a problem with this as long as they´re making money.

Speaking from experience, I can say that the Holocaust is a very important part of the curriculum, at least at the schools I went to, and many Muslims know very well that the Holocaust happened. For instance, a lot of German and French Jews were given the Turkish citizenship in those years so they could escape to Turkey. Most of them later moved to Israel when it was founded. ( The Jews had always had a special place in Ottoman society eversince Sultan Beyazid granted them refuge during the Spanish Reconquista and Inquisition.Unfortunately, this good relationship was overshadowed by a brief phase of very unfair taxation laws in the early 1940s, and today, there´s only a thin line between criticism of Israel´s policy and antisemitism).
The Holocaust should stay a very important part of the curriculum, and teachers should stress that non-Jewish people, including Muslims, were also killed in Nazi concentration camps while the grandmufti of Jerusalem was showing support for Hitler and while anti-communist Muslims in Russian territories were allies of the Nazis. I think that this is very important and it would make anybody who doubts that the Holocaust never happened think twice.

What I don´t understand is why those politicians who have good relations with Ahmadinejad never adress this topic, I mean he´s making such a fool of himself, yet nobody seems to mention this to him just because they share a similar attitude about Israel. But that ( critical opinion of Israel) doesn´t mean that the Holocaust is a myth.
" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

error number one: I know many very nice religious people and I know religious pricks. but my experience tells me, that the percentage of pricks and idiots is not significantly higher or lower amongst relgious or non relgious people. an idiot remains just that: an idiot.

...causing you to dismiss or even hate the notion of a CREATOR, namely, GOD, who brought everything into existence.

error number two: I do not dismiss the idea of a creator or God. where do you have that from? in fact I find it very likely, that there is some sort of intelligence behind the universe. but the word "intelligent" already rules out the messed up character described as God in the Old Testament as a possible candidate.

your error number three: evolution is not contradicting a creator or a God. it is merely contradicting a literal interpretation of Genesis. if you would be educated about your religion, then you would be aware, that the majority of Christians does not take Genesis literal. the same is valid about Jews. if you personally find evolution and God incompatible then it's your problem, not mine. and not the one of Christianity or Judaism.

This is common amongst those who embrace the Theory of Evolution, which , Im afraid to inform you is not a FACT.

error number four: I was NOT talking about the theroy of evolution, which is of course a theory as the name indicates. I was talking about the FACT of evolution. two DIFFERENT things. your above statement is compeltely nonsensical and unscientific. you expose your total lack of knowledge. it's like saying gravity is not a fact, because it's called gravitational THEORY.

it seems you do not understand the difference. that's why you fall for the worst and most ridiculous Creationist argument ever "it's ONLY a theory". I don't hold your ignorance against you, you might still be an intelligent person, but sadly you had to go through the American educational system, so this is probably a tough one for you. it is however not my duty to fill in for your lack of education. go out learn something, at least inform yourself about scientific theories and the terminology used in that field before you get into another debate about that topic.

start here http://www.stephenjaygoul...heory.html
...
Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts do not go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's, but apples did not suspend themselves in mid-air, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from apelike ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other, yet to be discovered.
...

good luck, you have a lot to learn

However, the Holocaust did happen and is fact.

no error here. congrats. so this is the only valid part of your post. keep up the good work, genius.
