The right stylist can cut curly hair short in a way that it will be manageable and not ultra frizzy curly. It's all in the cut. Shop around, talk to a few stylists, see what they can do for you. I used to cut my hair pretty darn short about every 2 years or so and then let it grow back out to somewhere between chin and shoulder length. (My hair is way too thin and straight to look good long... sad ) Cutting it short can be very freeing and a fun change for a while.

Yes, I agree with CarrieMpls, it is important to find a stylist who knows how to cut naturally curly hair the right way. I also have naturally curly hair, and one time, I went to a stylist who cut it wrong and made it even more frizzy. omfg

I don't have a picture to show you of my hairdo (I wish I did, so you could see it), but the name of my haircut is called a modified wedge. I don't know if you remember that ice skater named Dorothy Hamill, but she wore her hair in a wedge hairdo (picture below):

-- This is the way Dorothy Hamill wore her "wedge" hairdo. A modified wedge has bangs, and is cut shorter around the ears.

I have worn my hair this way for years, it really is an easy style to work with (in fact, my mom gets the exact same style haircut, since we both have been going to the same stylist for over 20 years). I just blow my hair dry and off I go. I also have my hair highlighted (my natural hair color is brown) with blond streaks, it looks really nice, and I get a lot of compliments on it. Maybe you can ask your stylist to show you a picture of this haircut (if he/she has a picture book of different hairstyles). Hope this helps. biggrin

Thank you for your comments and suggestions! The only problem I see with having that cut is that the underside would frizz into a tight ball from being so short...

That's what I'm looking for, though... something that won't require a lot of time like my hair does now. With longer hair you have to be careful so that it doesn't dry out, it doesn't break, and on and on... with shorter hair I won't have all of that pressure... and, I'd like something that is simply easier to wash and go... like yours! smile

My hair never changes... I can't pull off short hair so I leave it medium/long. I just cut it when the ends get scruffy. When I want a change, I just fiddle with the color...

Perhaps I'll start off slow and just fiddle with that color of mine... and take a few inches off.

Alright- don't know you- or your hair- but this is my story----

Have thick good hair..... was down to waist, all one length, healthy, cool- I was bored-
Cut it to my chin- next thing- everyone cuts hair to chin- I looked like EVERYONE ELSE!
Hated it-
So many girls CANNOT grow their hair long- if you can, leave it- just play with styles and layers-

My hair now to my waist again- thank goodness!

LEAVE IT LONG!!!!!

How long did your hair take to grow back out?!

I go through stages with my hair, it will be short for a year than I will grow it out (which is the biggest pain in the world) I have fine wavy hair, it doesnt have alot of weight to it so I get 'flyaways' really easy. I love my hair long and short I just cant stand the middle length, it just seems to be to plain for me.

You're welcome. biggrin If you have a good stylist, you shouldn't have any trouble with your hair frizzing up anywhere. I wish you lived in the same city I do, I would send you to my stylist, she's great. She does a great job cutting my hair, and I never have a problem with frizziness. Now if I let my hair grow down to my shoulders, that's a different story. lol
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
