Thinking About Chopping My Hair Off

Anyone else tired of their hair? I need a change and have been contemplating cutting it off. I'm very, very, very frightened about doing it, but I need a change. If I get a wrong cut I'll look like a poodle because my hair is naturally curly and once the weight is lifted... WHOOOOOSH!... Tight, tight, tight curls is all I'll have, that won't cooperate with any styling product.

Anyone get a new style lately and want to share a picture or can you think of any cute styles that won't be difficult to manage with someone with naturally curly hair?

Thank you... and I like long hair, too... but, I don't know. I feel older now, which is odd... instead of twelve I feel at least fifteen. smile Seriously though, it just seems that with long hair it can get pretty boring at times. I mean... I wear it curly, I wear it straight, I put a couple of braids in it, I do this, I do that... but it all feels the same... just, loooong.

I can't get the sides tapered because they curl right up into curly-q's while the rest is wavy or curled... why am I talking hair with you?!!

confused

The right stylist can cut curly hair short in a way that it will be manageable and not ultra frizzy curly. It's all in the cut. Shop around, talk to a few stylists, see what they can do for you. I used to cut my hair pretty darn short about every 2 years or so and then let it grow back out to somewhere between chin and shoulder length. (My hair is way too thin and straight to look good long... sad ) Cutting it short can be very freeing and a fun change for a while.

See... that's what I need! A short style that doesn't feel so weighted down! I feel like a puppy. Hair everywhere. And I shed like nothing you've seen before. confused

I'm just really tired of it. But, am seriously afraid of cutting it. I want to... I just don't know if I can bring myself to fully go through with it. Last year I had about five inches cut off and I FREAKED! I cried and cried and cried and cried some more... it was in the middle... not quite a bob but just.... it wasn't good on me. And, I have to take into consideration my ears. They don't sit close to my head (grrr... no comments from the peanut gallery) and I have to watch that, too.

The 80's were so much easier to deal with. I had every color of the rainbow... I had long, I had short, I had suuuuuper short and spiked everywhere. I don't think I could pull that off with my age and in the "now"... though, a good color of a deep chocolate to enhance my color and short and spikey might not be bad!.... Hmmmm...

Seee.... I wanna be freeeee. I wish we could see ourselves in certain cuts and play with it a bit and if we don't like it just go back in and "wa-la!" our hair is back.

shake don't do it!!!! I cut my hair in April and I REALLY hated it... It's almost grown back now.. seriously DON'T do it you'll regret it! nod

If you want a change why not cut your hair shoulder length.... maybe get a few highlights?
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

Coloring is definitely in order... but, I can't do shoulder length. It sort of gets stuck in the middle. It's basically either long or I have to go short. Otherwise, I'm left with a mess.

sad

I have to straighten my hair and it's a pain because my hair is naturaly wavy and it's long, I understand your dilemma. I think long hair suits you Azure, you might hate it if you cut it short.

I got really pissed and came home put my hair in a ponytail, and cut the entire ponytail off. I'm not sure what that was supposed to prove, but I don't regret it. My hair is naturally curly too. Just straighten or Frizz-ease it and it should be fine. In the middle of summer you deserve to get your hair off your neck, it's too hot for that. Anyway, it will grow back.

Yes, I agree with CarrieMpls, it is important to find a stylist who knows how to cut naturally curly hair the right way. I also have naturally curly hair, and one time, I went to a stylist who cut it wrong and made it even more frizzy. omfg

I don't have a picture to show you of my hairdo (I wish I did, so you could see it), but the name of my haircut is called a modified wedge. I don't know if you remember that ice skater named Dorothy Hamill, but she wore her hair in a wedge hairdo (picture below):

-- This is the way Dorothy Hamill wore her "wedge" hairdo. A modified wedge has bangs, and is cut shorter around the ears.

I have worn my hair this way for years, it really is an easy style to work with (in fact, my mom gets the exact same style haircut, since we both have been going to the same stylist for over 20 years). I just blow my hair dry and off I go. I also have my hair highlighted (my natural hair color is brown) with blond streaks, it looks really nice, and I get a lot of compliments on it. Maybe you can ask your stylist to show you a picture of this haircut (if he/she has a picture book of different hairstyles). Hope this helps. biggrin

Found this link on Google: http://hairstyles.free-be...tyles.html

I was hoping to find a haircut that was similar to mine, but I was unsuccessful. This site may give you some ideas about how to have your hair done. smile

My hair never changes... I can't pull off short hair so I leave it medium/long. I just cut it when the ends get scruffy. When I want a change, I just fiddle with the color...
I mean, like, where is the sun?

Alright- don't know you- or your hair- but this is my story----

Have thick good hair..... was down to waist, all one length, healthy, cool- I was bored-
Cut it to my chin- next thing- everyone cuts hair to chin- I looked like EVERYONE ELSE!
Hated it-
So many girls CANNOT grow their hair long- if you can, leave it- just play with styles and layers-

My hair now to my waist again- thank goodness!

LEAVE IT LONG!!!!!

I love this one... going to print it off and take it with me when I go. The only thing I worry about with this cut is that I have no problem straightening my hair, but if the weather is humid, it will frizz up if it's that short. Gonna see what they can do! smile

Thanks for the pictures and suggestions!

My hair irritates me sometimes because it's so thick. However, I would never shave it all off because I would look moronic.

Don't you hate having to take the time to straighten? My mom has bone straight hair and I wish I had it... of course, she wishes she had curl like I do. The grass is always greener...

I probably will hate it. I've only had short hair twice during my life and wasn't really fond of it either time... though, the second time I just sort of had fun with it. I'm scared, but I feel so weighted down with it anymore, you know? Do you ever feel that way?
