Yeah, I drink lots of Chilian wines too, my favourite wines come from Australia, NZ, Chile, Argentina, and South Africa. Brown Brothers and Wolf Blass are Australian, Cloudy Bay is from New Zealand. Sad to say I don't drink much french wine, except when I'm in France. You guys keep all the good stuff, so it's very expensive to get a decent bottle of French wine over here. Also many of the new world wines are more full bodied which is my sort of thing. Although, I had my first glass of Cotes du Rhone at the age of 9, and haven't looked back since! Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

anyone a member of a wine club? i used to be with the Sunday Times Wine Club but after ordering a few cases realised that you get a whole load of shite with the good stuff.

in my region (languedoc roussillon), we can get surprisingly good wines for under 4 euros. prizewinners, often enough.
even some of the boxed stuff is not 1/2 bad.

speaking of champagne,
blanquette de limoux is every bit as good. so is saumur.

better experiences? No, but I've done a couple of wine tasting evenings which were good fun and led to a few recommendations. The most interesting thing was blind tasting, it's actually quite difficult to tell whether some wines are red or white without being able to see them. I always buy some unknown wine when I'm away in different countries, but my best experiences with buying unknown wines have been in France. I've been really lucky and have managed to get some really good wines very cheaply. Of course, this isn't a regular option for me any more (I used to live in London) as we sadly don't have a tunnel link from Dublin to France (or anywhere else). It would be ideal if we could just push England out of the way and slide Ireland over a bit to give us easier access to French wine. I hear the English weather's getting too hot during the summer anyway, so ye could probably do with going north a bit. Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

I'd love that. It would get me to Ireland more often! And me to France! Now all we need to do is get the English to agree and find some really, really big lifting equipment! Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

I hate to give the Australians credit in any way for anything because they are a country/continent of criminals/idiots, but they make a DAMN fine red wine!
