Been to the Dentist Lately??

I just got back from having a Root Canal!! It took an hour and an half and NO PAIN!! The most pain I experienced was writing the $472 check! So if you haven't been in a while- GO! It could save you several hundred dollars (even thousands) not to mention your teeth!

I'm half way through my treatment plan- so far I've spent $3300 (insurance paying $1000) on 2 filling, 3 crowns, a root canal and whitening... and I've got 5 more crowns to go!! My last two teeth top and bottom on both sides (total of 8 teeth) needed to be crowned. I didn't have any other issues and just those 8 teeth will cost me $6000!! Thankfully, my dentist said that two crowns can wait until my insurance kicks back in in Jan 05- and damn if it didn't take long to use up my insurance! Brushing and flossing helps but I took a short break (like 5 years) from going to the dentist and ooops....

Anyways- I love going! No pain, laughing gas, and happy pills!!! It's called GENITAL DENTISTRY- just find you a (that's Southern lol ) dentist that advertises genital dentistry and nitrous oxide and they will hook you up! Don't be afraid!

....feeling my Vicodin! wink

I had a root canal about 3 weeks ago. Which cost 350 dollars , with insurance. and yesterday I had my braces tighten. The last of the tightening, they are finally coming off next month. As soon as they come off, I will have whitening/bleaching done that very day smile

I have left over fear too. I still remember being slapped across my face when I was 12 by the dentist coz my mouth was not wide enough (he was doing a cavity). My mom raised shit with him and the dental association.

Guess what!!
I just found out that my insurance runs from May-April and NOT Jan-Dec AND I HAVE A $840 CREDIT WITH THE DENTIST!!
I'm so pissed! My root canal today shoud have been FREE! But Instead I had a $487 credit and then paid him $472 for the root canal!
No Big Deal- I'm going the 16th for 3 more crowns, so that's one paid for and a little one the 2nd!
Overpaid $840!! I put off that fu*kin' root canal for two weeks waiting on my paycheck! Oh well- I did get 40 Vicodin ES pills!

Mine RC should have been $118 with insurance...oh well

How are you having your teeth whitened? My dentist took an impression of my mouth and made plastic trays that fit over my teeth. You put bleech in the trays and ware them for 2-3 hours for 2 weeks. The trays are custom fit for your mouth so they are snug and the bleech stays in place. My teeth are extreme white like magazine cover white. I used to smoke and I love coffee so this methoid was better than the "Zoom" lamp technique.

My ortho has a lazer treatment that he uses. It will take 2 60 minute sessions. $750 bucks.. But I included it in my ortho payments smile

I have left over fear too. I still remember being slapped across my face when I was 12 by the dentist coz my mouth was not wide enough (he was doing a cavity). My mom raised shit with him and the dental association.

my fear stems from a horrible orthodontist...when i was 12 i got braces. unfortunatly the orthodontist (who we shall from now on call Dr.Evil) was a bitch and had no heart. when she was doing the impressions (for those of you who haven't had braces...this is when they take molds of your mouth...they put a gooey clay-like substance in metal mouth guards and place them in your mouth until they harden) she neglected to tell me to sit up so the mold-stuff (sorry don't really know what to call it) started choking me. needless to say it made me gag and i threw up on the floor. when Dr.Evil saw what happened she started yelling at me, calling me an idiot and saying that i was so stupid...she literally grabbed me by the collar and pulled me into a sitting position. since she had not moved the light i ended up cracking my head on it when she pulled me up...hence the reason i didn't sit up in the first place!!!

anyway...thats why i'm scared of dentists.

sorry about your experience.

i need to get over it!!!
