I used to live about 45 minutes from Monterey. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is kinda cool. Cannery Row is interesting. Very beautiful, if you like the sea. It's worth the trip. Make reservations at one of the nicer restaurants on the coast. You'll have fun. I'll be down that way myself in a few days.

In my opinion they are both beautiful..

I love Monterey.. the aquarium is pretty neat.. And a visit to Cannery Row is fun.

Oh, and you can find a coke can in every grocery store.

They are both amazingly beautiful places. I have been through both during trips to or from Northern California and I highly recommend a visit if you can. When I strolled through those towns, I couldn't believe people live like that.

They are both beautiful - but they are pricey as hell (esp Carmel) and can be a bit touristy. I guess that's like any seaside town, though...

I go to Big Sur,Monterey n Carmel every year for a week or so.
Take highway 1.It takes alot longer than the back way but its well worth it.
It's really beautiful dude.Don't even have ta tell ya to grab the camera.
