What a summer, huh? Just keeps getting better...

My cat Freddie, whom my mother was supposed to be watching, got in a fight with my two big dogs, whom my mother was also supposed to be watching... It didn't end well for poor Freddie and as of this morning he's gone... And here I am 2 1/2 hours away sitting by myself hearing about all this and listening to my mother blame me for it... Freddie was not even 3 years old yet, and he was half Maine Coon. A beautiful young and good-natured kitty. Only the good die young, huh? I'd post a pic if I had one. I don't blame the dogs. If you knew their situation, you wouldn't either. It's just a terrible tragedy. I think I need more hugs again, and Freddie needs your prayers...

Your mother says it's YOUR fault?! I'm so sorry. I really can't express how sorry I am for you. Poor kitten.....

When you're ready, go to the shelter and save another cat. It will make you feel a little better. I wish I could hug you in person.

Yeah, my brother's at my parents' house right now trying to calm my mom down and make her understand that I had nothing to do with this and I'm sad too. He said he's going to try to take the dogs somewhere for a while so she can't see them. Meanwhile I feel horrible. The bigger of the two dogs notoriously hates cats. Everyone knows that so they don't let her near cats; it's that simple. But my mom just can't understand that for some reason and she lets her with the cats, and then if she growls at one my mom yells at her and gets her even more worked up and angry. Then she does nothing to try to save the cat besides yell at the dog and hope she'll stop attacking it, and then she blames me. I've been on a mission to bring my dogs up here with me where we have no cats so they can live a peaceful life and so can all my mom's cats... But of course my boyfriend's new house is the perfect place for them to live and his mother won't let any animal associated with me anywhere near it... All the animal shelters euthanize after a certain time so I'm afraid I'll be sentencing them to death by taking them there, and I don't want to lose them. And the kennels charge so much I'd never be able to afford keeping them in one. Despite my efforts I haven't found any way to get them out of my parents' house, and now this happened and I feel like I haven't tried hard enough and maybe this IS my fault... I don't think I know what to feel anymore...
