Remember OK Soda?

remember the can with the weird boy on it? It was black & white and grey..and it kinda tasted like Tahitian Treat mixed with Kool Aid?

yeah -- we brought it up a couple of weeks ago on one of those
"remember these?" threads.

It was pretty OK.

Kinda light brown cola. Somebody pointed out that is didn't
have nationwide distribution -- only regional. The Cola

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Indeed, they look eerily Orwellian. Like they should be the drink of choice in 1984!

Coca-Cola planned to distribute it nationwide after test-marketing it in a few regions. Unfortunately, Coke pulled the plug on OK soda before it went national. sad

I still have an empty OK soda can (picked it up in the Boston area, one of the test markets), as well as some audio files recorded from the abovementioned 1-800-I-FEEL-OK hotline.

OK Soda was right up there with Clear Pepsi (or was it called crystal pepsi?)and "Surge"

My dad had a tendency to buy mass quantities of anything that was on sale so we had a ton of Surge, even after they stopped selling it...I hated Surge.

I remember calling 1-800-I FEEL OK, ALL the time...My friends and I used leave horribly obscene messages on it. I remember falling on the floor laughing after saying like, "you sucked my dick!" (thats just a taste of course) and after the message was recorded the OK soda man said..."Interesting! that happened to my sister last week!"

Anyhow, Everything about that soda was good except the taste. I liked the art on the cans and on the machines and stuff...too bad it tasted like feces.

They are archived away with files from my previous computer. When I get a chance (it may be awhile), I'll see if I can put them up.

Alternatively, the website where I found the files may still be up. I'll check.

Case

I loved the cans. VERY cool. I didn't like the drink itself...but I DO miss the marketing campaign and the ironic air of the cans. It WAS odd though; a soft drink company trying to cash in on the "slacker factor." Notice you never hear anything else about what Gen X is up to now? All it is now is "What are we going to do about Social Security after the Boomers retire?"
