i gots me a lion's head on my left arm. i want to get a second tattoo for my birthday this year, but i dunno what i want. i'm caught behind a simple lil' leo sign or a matthew barney field symbol.

HA! Nothing gross or anything, just the skin is slightyly raised in some areas, esepcially where they did the outliniing in black.. It isn't even noticable, but if you run your fingers over it, you can slightly feel it

I seem to recall reading that such scar tissue can be caused by: 1) a individual skin reaction to the ink; or 2) the artist going too hard/deep. FWIW, my tattoo (entirely in black ink, and very bold like a thick outline, aside from some shading), resulted in no scarring.

Also, I think I was lucky in that I had almost none of the itching during healing that other tattooed folks had warned me about, and scabbing was very minimal. Perhaps it was the aftercare product that my artist recommended: Aquaphor ointment.

FWIW, when I got inked, the artist started by doing one quick line, just so I could get used to the sensation. My reaction to this first line was, "That's it?"

To be sure, it was more painful at times. Occasionally it felt as if she was digging the needle into my skin--she may have been doing the shading, although I don't know because I couldn't see what she was doing. But on the whole, it was definitely bearable, and I'm very happy with the results.

I know, and im still going through with it, but I want the eyes. They mean something to me.

I got the outlining of the eyes done yesterday, and 2 ladybugs on my foot that represent my daughter.
The tattoo will be finished off in two weeks. But yes, I still plan on going through with what I had said before. There are certain ones that I would like to get removed.
