Two Questions When you were a child, what was the one thing that you couldn't wait to do when you got older? If you've done it, was it worth the wait?
What is the very first moment of your life that you remember?

Ex-Moderator | Oddly, I can't remember really wanting to do something I wasn't gorwn up enough to do. I pretty much just did it anyway.
My first memory is of my aunt's bathroom. I was 2 and I'd sliced my head open and my aunt and mom were holding me up to the sink to wash it out and I had to be brought to the hospital for stitches. I remember it all very vividly. |

For me I couldn't wait to get a job and have money. I now have a job but still have no money, therefore NO it was NOT worth the wait. I'd love to be 9 again. What is the very first moment of your life that you remember?
I remember my sister trying to ween me off of the (baby) bottle and hiding it from me when I was maybe 3ish and my mom telling her to "let him have one more". She should've listened to my sister because I'm still drinking from the thing!

1) i basically couldn't wait to grow up. i didn't have any expectations or wants, i just wanted to be a "big girl", i suppose.
2) attempting to escape from day care when i was about 5.

I couldn't wait to grow up and drive! Then I couldn't wait to be on my own in my own place! Then I couldn't wait to turn 21 so I could buy my own alcohol! Then I couldn't wait to get married!
I have to say that all of them were worth the wait to some extent. Being able to drive being top on the list. I didn't have to wait as long for the others... but driving... that's all I could dream of! My first memory is when I was about three and my uncle was babysitting me. My mom had this special lamp that I wasn't supposed to touch (I swear to God I didn't touch the thing), I wanted to touch it soooo bad. Anyway, I was supposed to be taking a nap and all I could think about was this lamp that was on the end table at the end of the couch. With my uncles back to me, he was watching Road Runner, I slowly crept up to touch it, inching very slowly with my finger... and about an inch from it the damned thing blew up on me! My uncle had such fear in his eyes... I'll never forget his look. It started off something like this and then moved to sheer terror. He didn't see me look because I had quickly jumped down under the covers and was peeking through the holes in the afghan. I seriously did not touch that lamp. It just blew up! I really can't seem to remember anything of life prior to that moment.

Sure sure sure, it just blew up. Happens ALL the time! You would think that I would be lying, wouldn't you? But, really... I swear my finger did not touch the lamp. Just... I was nearly there, one touch is all I wanted and had been aching to feel it for weeks... and BAM! Glass flying everywhere. It was horrible. God, I remember sitting and staring at that lamp from the moment she brought it into the house. I was obsessed with it for some reason. It's blowing up like that was like some horrible joke.

Maybe it was a defensive reaction to you trying to touch it.

I also remember wanting to be a movie star when I grew up. My grandma actually took movies of me through an open door one day while I was at her restaurant passing the time away. I guess I was about six or seven.
She had this desk in her office and these black, leather gloves would always sit on the stand when you'd walk in the door. I would pretend I was a sneaky "soap opera vixen" and carefully, and oh so quietly, sneak up to the desk with those gloves on and quietly open the drawer... doing that whole jerking around look thing the soap opera people would do and sneak papers out of there. Then, I'd walk to a corner of the room and slam the papers on the stand and act all irate and have a converstaion with no one, ranting and raving about the LIES, LIES, LIES going on around this hospital! (Everyone was a General Hospital fan). I'd do this often... my mom recently had the film transfered onto vhs and so now everyone can watch it when they want. I am a "star"!

I can't really remember what I really wanted to do when I grew up. Probably something really unexciting like develop facial hair or something like that!
My 1st memory I think was waiting up Christmas morning and finding a knitted doll of a pirate in my stocking.

I would watch my mom get dressed up.Expensive heels, beautiful dresses, .....etc. I couldnt wait to grow up and buy those nice dresses and beautiful heels that she used to wear. Now that I have all of that, i love my jeans, baby tee and tennis shoes..... Spent all that money just to look at nice dresses and shoes sitting in my closet.
