"sorry, i forgot to bury your dad" my dad died in july of 2001
turns out my dad's widow (second wife who, alone, had the legal power to dispose of my dad's ashes) not only didn't scatter his cremated remains, but she totally blew off even picking them up from the crematorium at all. there was a clause in the contract which read that they could have discarded his ashes "commingled them" with other human remains and disposed of them any way allowable by law, but fortunately the good folks at the crematorium didn't toss him out in the trash. so, my dad's remains have been sitting on a storage shelf all this time. if i'd known i would have picked him up in a heartbeat. actually i dragged her ass down there to get him when i found out. just wondering what the ORG thinks of this? am i the only one who thinks this is really, really weird and borderline cruel/twisted?

it's been totally freaking me out for the last few days, ever since she mentioned it. we did go right down and pick him up that same day though, so at least he's in no danger of the dumpster for the time being.
she and i spoke about the situation last night and agreed that the two of us will find someplace nice (i know an overlook on hwy 35s where eagles hang out) and we'll go together on saturday to scatter him.. she is very apologetic and deeply sorry but the weirdest thing is, she lives not far from where he's been all this time, and passes by there twice each working day. it's not like she 'forgot' i just can't see what could have happened inside her head for three years that she just blew it off??? ah well. it's a weird, weird world ain't it? thanks for listening
