HELP! My Cat Is On A Rampage!

This sucks. My cat has decided to mark everything his little heart desires. It appears that last night he went buck wild. sad

How do I get the smell out?! Carpeting and clothes... everything else I am throwing away. Is there any way to remove the odor and not just mask it?

I need to get him in, hopefully it's not too late for him.

Get him fixed, and I have never found a way to get rid of the odor other than throwing away everything that was sprayed.

He's got an appointment scheduled for next week. Though, she said he may still continue to spray, even after the surgery, since he went with it full force like that.

I can't throw everything out! I can't. sad I did a search online here a second ago and a lot of people say to use Listerine or rubbing alcohol. I don't want my house to smell like mouthwash, though, I suppose it's better than urine.

DAMNIT! Grrrr... BAD Lester!

How old is he?

We just got a CHICO in December, and he's scheduled for his wack next week.

Already, he wants to get outside any chance he gets.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

About seven months old. I hope you don't have the same problem with Chico before his appointment.

Lester is about to get "wacked" in the kitchen.

Hey, 9s. I just read on a website that one way a lady found to prevent her male cat from spraying was to have her husband pee where the cat did, and the cat never went back to spray that spot.

Would you like to make a trip over and pee on my clothes and carpeting?

You can buy commercial pet stain removers at PetCo or PetSmart, some place like that. Usually works very well. Also, if he's spraying in one particular place, you can move his food dish right to that spot. Cat's won't spray wear they eat.

He's spraying everywhere! I am not kidding... the majority of his antics were done in my son's closet. This morning, while I was in the bath, he backed up and sprayed the rug in front of my sink... while I was right there in the room with him! Maybe I should put little bowls of food around everywhere... wink

Heading to PetCo at noon when I go to get my daughter from school. I just don't want to cover the smell up though, so hopefully they have a good product to remove as much of the odor as possible.

Ask suomynona about this... no kidding... he's the cat expert... I'm sure he'll have plenty of food suggestions. I remember he mentioned something on his LJ once about some product he used that worked really well... it's worth a mention!

My cat got pretty sick a few years back and was peeing on furniture and carpet. I ended up having to have her uterus removed. sad She's good now. But to clean up the mess we borrowed a carpet/upholstery cleaning machine thingy that was just small. I think you can get them for around $30-40. There's a solution specfically for pet stains that worked well in actually cleaning the areas. And it generally deterred kitty from "using" that area again.

Oooh... I am sorry about your cat. sad It's good that she's doing well now, though!

Okay... I went to PetCo and I bought "Natures Miracle". It claims to remove all odors, the first time, once the product dries completely, and also claims to deter Lester from hitting that spot again!

*Crosses fingers and off to spray his, ummm... "spray"*

Oh crap!!

I wash everything and use a deodorizer and cleaner with an enzyme destroying property, then I spray certain areas with a cat repellent.

You can buy these at pet stores. And yeah, he needs to be fixed.

I'm finding that the odor does not come out of clothing all that well.

I am not a cat lover, I'd have him taken away.. Especially if he sprayed on my kids stuff.

This must be a male cat....right? I had this problem before too. He will stop as soon as he gets fixed. But as far as the smell goes.....vinigar and hot water usually does the trick.
There is a spray that you can buy from pet stores that will get rid of the smell as well. I've forgotten what it's called here and it probably has a different name in the US, but that will help as well.
