MADISON, Wis. -- A teenager who allegedly took more than $95,000 worth of property while burglarizing a home spent stolen silver coins at a McDonald's without realizing they were worth $300 apiece, authorities say.

Bradley A. Roche, 16, of Waunakee, was waived from juvenile into adult court Wednesday on charges of burglarizing a Waunakee home in April while the owner was away.

The criminal complaint filed in Dane County Circuit Court said Roche admitted to entering the home through an unlocked side garage door three times, taking among other things several silver collector coins that were stored in a safe inside a walk-in closet.

Nine watches, 18 pieces of jewelry, a cell phone, a mini CD player, about 50 CDs, several bottles of liquor, a digital camera and four Tiger Woods commemorative golf ball sets were also allegedly taken.

Roche told Waunakee Police Lt. Joseph Peterson that he and two others took the jewelry to pawn shops in Rockford, Ill., the complaint states.

By the time one of his friends looked up on the Internet the coins that had been taken and Roche learned how valuable they were, he had already spent them on food at McDonald's, the complaint said.
