I just saw this piece of shit over the weekend, and well.....it's a real piece of shit.

Of course the effects were awesome, no doubt about that. But fucking Hollywood bullshit just had to come into play. In the middle of all the great effects was a goddamn love story, PC garbage, political agendas, and tons of nonsense. Yet again, Hollywood destroys a big film that could have been great. They did the same thing all the time with films like Titanic, Armageddon, Independence Day, and so on. It's such a goddamn waste.

See, I had the LOWEST expectations for this film. I expected a silly love story, unlikely rescues and get-aways, and a lot of heavy handed politicizing. Oh yeah, and KICK ass special effects. Well, the movie had all of the above, so it met my expectations and I had fun. I would recommend catching a matinee of it.

Of course, I saw this film immediately after seeing Soul Plane which was AWFUL. So, maybe that impacted my opinion as well.

I didn't have high expectations either, but it still pisses me off that the film had so much potential, and got so badly fucked up. It's as though the producers don't think they can make money unless they include all the garbage. It's the special effects that sold the film, period. The love story, the politics, and all the rest could have easily been left out, and they would have made the same amount of money.

We went 2 see Van Helsing 2 weeks ago, then on Sunday we went 2 see Troy, then next weekend we will probably go and see The Day After Tomorrow!!

"Shrek 2" is pretty damned good, and I really enjoyed "Mean Girls". Glad I skipped this latest effects orgy.

I agree, this movie was crap. The special effects didn't even make up for it. Normally I love Jake Gyllenhall, esp. in Donnie Darko, but I was hating him in this movie.

I'm gonna be a real party pooper here and say I actually LIKED IT!! it's no Lord of the Rings, granted, but for what it is it's not a bad movie...the special effects are awesome! bit corny at times, tho, but still...

This movie was OK. Very typical ecocentric disaster movie. You seen one, you seen 'em all.

OMG....sometimes CGI ruins shit and the story sucked.....

It's no surprise this movie sucked, it was written and directed by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, Godzilla, etc.). That guy sucks.

I saw this movie on Memorial Day and its not the best disaster movie ever. I thought Deep Impactwas better, but the special effects alone are worth the $6.50 I paid for each matinee ticket. Go and check it out. Its fun if you have 2 hours to flush.
