Yoga & Autism?

I'm a "highly functioning autistic". Autism has given me emotional problems (I cry waaay too much and at the wrong times), I can't pay atention for the life of me, & I daydream too much. I was wondering if yoga could help put this under control?
If it doesn't fit, it's ugly anyway.

you have incredibly good verbal skills for someone who is considered a high functioning autistic person. Most people with autism do not have the easiest time with verbal communication although there are a few who are verbally gifted. There is one woman, i forget her name at the moment, who designs slaughterhouses and writes articles about what it's like to be autistic. obviously she doesn't have such a hard time with verbal commuication.

also, crying all the time is not one of the emotional problems that's usually associated with autism. Usually, people with autism, high functioning or not, experience what is often referred to as a "lack of emotion" and an inibility to empathize with others. People who are higher functioning can realize this difference in themselves and that can lead to a kind of depression but crying all the time does not seemt o be the norm. are you sure you weren't misdiagnosed? it is possible, especially in women.

Actually I think what I have is more like Asperges Syndrome. My verbal skills in real life aren't great because I can't carry on a decent conversation. I do however have an inibility to empathize with others.

I'm sorry I need doctor's proof that you are autistic. I'm a special education teacher and I have worked with high functioning autistic students and I currently have a little boy in my class who is extremely high functioning for someone diagnosed with PDD, and I really don't see any evidence of this in any of your numerous posts. I honestly think this is some sort of ploy for attention and I think it's sick. I don't know if you are saying this to rile people up or if you want people to pity you. I don't know what your deal is but I am (and have been) concerned for you for a long time. GIRL YOU NEED HELP! Please go seek some counseling.

Actually I think maybe what I have is more like Attention Defict Disorder. I'm not looking for pity, I just want to be able to find a way to be able to pay attention so as I can learn skills that'll make lots of money for me later. I don't know if I have autism or not. I know I have a few symptoms of it. I heard yoga was good for your mind so I was hoping it'd help me w/ my mental problems.
If it doesn't fit, it's ugly anyway.

Yoga might help nod but I would go see a doctor too hon. rose

You really should stop putting it off.

Not necessarily. You first need to go to a medical doctor and tell him/her what your problems are before they can diagnose you. There are some people who need therapy but don't necessarily need medication. Everybody with depression isn't in the same boat. It's different degrees. And you can tell the doctor that you don't want to go on medication. If your situation isn't bad enough to need medication, there are many doctors who don't force that issue. And if a specific doctor isn't for you you can always find a different one. And I'm talking about doctors in all fields.

I realize there are many doctors who just want to perscribe patients with medication alone, but there are also some who know it's not needed for everybody. You have to think about your options and stop all your negative reinforcement.

self diagnosis is not suitable for any of the conditions you suspect you have.


seek professional medical and or psychological help immediately.













try the yoga if you want but you still need to seek professional help.

Actually I was toldd when I was a child that I have Autism. I've always thouhgt I was more of the ADD type.
