date.

SupportALIAS Launches Website

Tulsa, Okla. – SupportALIAS has launched their new website, SupportALIAS.com. Designed for fans of the cult hit show Alias, it has a variety of interactive features, including a forum for members to post their ideas for promoting the show, letter writing tips for those sending letters to ABC in support of the show, and a chat room.

Pre-launch, SupportALIAS already has over 280 members and support from many already established websites, including SD-1.net and AllAlias.com.

SupportALIAS sprang from ABC’s announcement to reschedule Alias until January 2005. Though many are surprised by the decision, fans are mainly concerned Alias will lose a portion of their fan base with the midseason move. The organization will focus on asking all entities involved with the production and airing of Alias to better promote the show, as well as reminding fans when the next season begins.

“Support Alias is not just for fans in the United States, fans from all over the world are joining the cause in hopes that they too can increase the promotion of Alias in their home countries,” says Shawna Berger, co-founder. “Alias is an award winning and critically acclaimed show and needs to be treated as such by ABC.”

SupportALIAS and SupportALIAS.com’s mission is to show love and support for Alias, and to constructively state concern with past promotional practices and possibly negative delay ramifications.

“So many viewers are frustrated that Alias’ ratings have remained stagnant for the past three seasons, and worried numbers will drop even further next winter,” says Jinnie McManus, co-founder. “SupportALIAS offers fans the chance to do something about that.”

Alias will air Sundays at 9 p.m. beginning Jan. 2005. SupportALIAS.com is a fan-organized effort and is not authorized or endorsed by ABC, Touchstone Television and Bad Robot.

i'm a huge fan of this show, but....why? aren't there more worthy things to support? on my way to work yesterday, i passed a demonstration where the protesters were miming forms of torture performed on people in China, and as you passed each demonstration they had posted documentation citing examples of when each of the human rights violations had occurred. it was one of the most effective demonstrations i've ever seen...in comparison, i think jennifer garner is doing okay. if that show needs any support at all, it's in getting better writers. that season finale BLEW CHUNKS. mad

Oh, darling...I support much more worthy things than this...for example, over the weekend I participated in a charity walk for mental illness...also, I'm heading up a drive for personal care items for people who have HIV/substance abuse problems/mental illnesses...this is just something I'm supporting as well.
You're taking this a little too seriously...especially coming from someone who posted such an over-the-top thread about it the other day.

nah, i'm not taking it as seriously as you may be interpreting it, no worries - and i'm sorry if i came off as self-righteous or condescending. i'm quite sure you're capable of being quite the benevolent multi-tasker and i'm impressed with all you do (heck, it's more than what i do).

i'm just sayin' there's really nothing to support where alias is concerned - ABC is keeping it on the schedule, they're investing in the show for at least another couple years, and jennifer garner's become a bigshot TV/movie star since the first episode aired. what's the need for support? if fans were rallying support for stronger plot lines and more intelligent writing (as in, like, no more rubber mask identity switches - i mean, come ON!!!!), then i'd come on board. the first couple seasons were so incredibly smart, campy and intense without being obnoxiously self-aware, schlocky or schticky. the past few episodes could have been surpassed by something aired on UPN at 3:00am starring tawny freakin' kittaen.

that's all i'm sayin'.

Yes, that's the last episode of Season Two - that's the one where she gets into the uber-catfight with Evil Francie then wakes up in Hong Kong.

...as if we all haven't had incidents like that. I know *I* have.
