Yes I do, and I buy them and cook them in garlic butter. If the ones you had were really chewy like rubber, then seems you had some old snails

escargots are yummy. Had the in a restaurant which there were prepared in butter and garlic and they came with toasted garlic bread. Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture! Ex-Moderator | I've had them twice. Once served in the shell and they were all garlicy and buttery and very yummy. The second time served out of the shell in little bowls full of butter and garlic and they tasted much like you described above. Rubbery and yucky. It's all in the freshness and preparation. |

We have snails quite often and whenever friends come over and turn their noses up at them, we ask them to at least try one...they try one, their faces are a picture, but after the first, they ask if they can have more

Growing up, my girlfrieds mother use to make them.. They had a distinct smell... It was aweful!! Although they wanted me to taste it, i never did.. The day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom - Anais Nin
