I've Decided to Go to The Doctor for Anti-Depressants Because Depression Sucks. I hope whatever he gives me doesn't have Sexual Side Effects. Maybe I am Bi-Polar..One Day Happy Next Sad. Cannot take this Any longer.

VERY smart move. I battle depression and anxiety attacks myself. Medication definitely helps (although I still have some pretty bad days). Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

i hear ya there, about the sex drive when i take my meds, i never want sex. its a rough trade off, sex, or be depressed --- worse yet, when you do get in the mood, orgasm is damn near impossible --- sometimes life is very unfair !!! but, girl, if you need the help, get it because, lifes to damn short to be unhappy One of the best days of my life... http://prince.org/msg/100/291111

Good for you. I would also ask the doctor if he/she thinks you need a mood stabilizer as well.

Sunlight, i,e.: sunbathing, outdoor sports, just get OUTDOORS. It's good for you. As long as you wear protective sunscreen, there is no better feeling than being out in the sun all day at the beach or other waterway. Ahhhhh.....

And as yet another medicated individual, I know what looks to be a simple solution isn't so simple when you're in the grips of depression. There are days when getting out of bed takes two hours, so picking myself up to get outside and do anything more than the bare minimum isn't so simple. Don't be afraid to seek medical help -- and know also that it is much more effective when done in conjunction with therapy. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

My doctor switched my meds, and now I'm not having the lack of sex drive issues (unfortunately, it isn't quite as effective as my old medication, since I still have short panic and depressive episodes every now and then, but I can deal them) Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. I always like to throw this out there, since I'm emotionally unstable at times, but I refuse medication. I really made a difference last year through eating healthy and avoiding caffeine, sugar and eating more protein. Just a thought, check out this book: www.dietcure.com
It's never taken me 2 hours to get out of bed, but I do have days when I hate the world. Then the next day I'm happy. But when I stuck to this "diet" program and took vitamins and amino acid supplements, after a few months I was actually walking around with a smile on my face FOR NO REASON!!! I have NEVER been that way. Anywho, I'm back on the caffeine and chocolate... (they are drugs that you get addicted to) Life is hard for some of us. Good luck with however you are able to take care of yourself. [This message was edited Fri May 21 9:39:55 2004 by VinaBlue]

I definitely want to deal with my depression/anxiety without medication. I've never used medication regularly -- I've always quit after about a month. I just went back onto meds for the first time in about 3 years. I've only been on for a couple of weeks, but I'm committed to staying on for 3 to 6 to 9 months to really get out of a hole. I've tried the diet/exercise route, and just haven't had the stamina to stick with it. I'm hoping that after a regular dosage of meds I can get to a point where I can live with my problems through diet. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

I'm hoping that after a regular dosage of meds I can get to a point where I can live with my problems through diet. The most important part is the amino acids that kinda "re-wire" your brain. I've heard that people who lead cults keep their followers by cutting out protein in their diets. This makes them easier to brainwash. So it makes sense that eating more protein and re-balancing your brain chemistry is helpful in dealing with emotional ups and downs that don't seem to have a reason. I hope the book helps you. When I read it, I felt like EVERYONE should read it. If only to learn how harmful caffeine and sugar really is. Now let me take this last sip of my mocha...

Amino acids aren't drugs, they are nutrients that your brain needs to be stable.

Drugs alone will not solve your issues. You MUST learn a new behavioral pattern to learn to live with your problems whilst under the influence of the anti-depressants. You can only achieve this with help of a professional psychotherapist. Just drugs wont help you in the long run.

In all cases? No. The medical field stays in business by treating symptoms and not the core problem. They NEED you to be dependent on them, and to buy medication to deal with the side-effects of the primary medication and on and on. One interesting point my boyfriend brought up once is that Doctors probably own stock in the companies that create medication... so they have their reasons for putting your on meds... That's why I prefer to try to treat things naturally whenever possible.

Amino acids aren't drugs, they are nutrients that your brain needs to be stable. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, nothing more, nothing less. Humans can synthesize most of the amino acids themselves, but for a few who you need to ingest. It's virtually impossible to come up with a diet without these essential amino acids (otherwise we humans would have kicked the evolutionairy bucket a long time ago) mode off You don't scare me; i got kids

All I know is I felt a LOT better after applying what I learned in this book.
