Virginia Woolf!

I just finished my first book by Virginia Woolf!

To the Lighthouse!

The plot was very, very simple - almost too simple - but the rest of it was dense as fuck! It's said to be her most autobiographical novel.

I found it interesting that she's always been called a 'feminist essayisy/novelist/etc etc etc' but the notes in my book said that Woolf detested the word feminist.

Okay, anyway! I know there are some literary enthusiasts here on the org. Share, explore, prod, probe...

thumbs up!

I didn't like Virginia Woolf. But then i've only read Orlando at school. But her style of writing annoyed me. Same with Jane "let's base an entire novel around a girl falling off a wall" Austen. boxed

I felt the same way when I started the book, but it is very good - granted, I was guided through it with criticism, which made it LOTS easier to take.

You know who sucks, though? Wyndham Lewis.

Seriously, Lewis has some scathing criticism of Woolf. She once spent three days in bed after she read an essay he wrote about her. lol

I think you can find it in Men Without Art.
