JasmineFire said: AsylumUtopia said: Well, next time I'm in a japanese restaurant or sushi bar I might consider it. But if you've ever had the British version of jellied eels, considered by some crazy people to be a 'delicacy', you'd understand my aversion to it. Just looking at it makes my stomach feels delicate. the british version of any kind of food is usually bad. sorry for being so stereotypical but that's been my experience with british food. No need to apologise, you're quite right. And as I'm Irish it's my duty to agree with you anyway! British culture has given rise to some pretty vile foodstuffs. For example: Scotch Eggs - a hard boiled egg covered in some strange pink mystery meat (probably spam) which is in turn covered with breadcrumbs. :vom: Cottage Pie - nothing to do with houses or cottaging, basically a shepherd's pie made with grey stringy stuff (they call it meat) and with manky cheese on top of the potato. :hurl: Pickled Eggs - traditional pub 'delicacy' - hard boiled eggs pickled in what can only be left-over brine from pickling herrings or something, must have been in it's pickle jar for at least 50 years to be considered authentic, and traditionally dumped into a packet of crisps. :chunder: Cornish Pasties - now there's nothing wrong with these in principle but in order to be considered authentic they must contain brown evil smelling liquid and unidentifiable lumpy bits. :hughie: Faggots - the British attempt at meatballs, allegedly made with pork, except pork is never that colour, and again, lumpy bits, stringy bits, and unidentifiable quivering bits are de rigeur. :ralph: The chips (fries) aren't too bad though. Just thought I should add that I'm not claiming culinary superiority over British cuisine by any means, we have our own array of vomit-inducing culinary delights in Ireland too. Details upon request. I bought a dolphin steak a few months back. I didn't particularly enjoy it - I found it very oily and rather tough. I prepared it myself without doing any reading on how dolphin is done, so perhaps I just didn't cook it properly.

Because when I told them fish came from the sea my daughter refused to eat it on the grounds that humans only wish to eat Sebastian and all his little Mermaid buddies! Shes far older now....

Elk
Moose Bear Deer Buffalo Ostritch Alligator and... Dog I'm sorry, didn't know at the time. Also cow testicles (prairie oysters). No kidding. "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. I must say my favourite is kangaroo or wallaby. I have also enjoyed venison, elk (älg in Sweden, more like a moose), crocodile, emu, ostrich, goat and the usual farm animals. But you know what, I'm really squeamish when it comes to poultry and sea creatures (fish excepted, I LOVE sushi).
I am not adventurous really, I definitely wouldn't try fried tarantula like on Survivor, that is truly too gross. What unusual animals have you eaten and enjoyed and would recommend? I don't eat meat everyday, but I stick to the typical farm animals that we in America generally eat: chicken, turkey, pork, beef...and I do like Venison, but haven't had it since probably the late '70s. I like rabbit too, and had it sometime in the mid '70s - NO IT DID NOT TASTE LIKE CHICKEN. It's better than chicken. Fish and seafood, always and forever. I'm not into any other meat. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.
