Ohio State Reformatory

I want to visit here sometime this summer. Are there any orgers from Ohio or has anyone been through the tour before? Is it worth the $50?

Here are some pictures that I found:

Because I think it would be interesting to explore. I have a thing for abandoned houses and buildings. The only abandoned buildings I won't step into is a mental facility or... damn, the word escapes me right now... where old people go when they are ill. What is that called?! I've only been in one of those once, and it wasn't abandoned... and I didn't like it. It was the most horrible place I have ever been in.

Are you refering to the mansfield reformatory? If so, from what I hear, it's quite cool. They sell out pretty quickly though. Marylin Manson shot a video there, and they filmed a movie there too though the name escapes me right now.

Theres a group of "ghost hunters" in NE Ohio known as SpiritSeekers who like to organize trips to places like this, you may want to hook up with them.

I met them one time last summer and went on a photo shoot with them and they were really nice.

There's alot of creepy places to visit in Ohio. One rather close to where I live is,

I used to hang out with this guys brother Kerry, which freaks me out even more, lol.

NURSING HOME! I kept coming up with "Nursery"... which, I knew wasn't right... but, I couldn't, for the life of me, think of Nursing Home!

I didn't like FEAR. I don't know if it was because of the show or because MTV runs too many commercials. I caught it only a few times and never went back to watch it again.

Yeah... most of the web sites refer to is as the Ohio State Reformatory though, but I think it's the same thing! A few years back, a friend of mine was able to go and stay the night in there. He brought his sleeping bag and camera and said it was pretty creepy being in there. From what I've found out from their tours, they don't allow you to stay the night anymore.

I did read that there were quite a few movies filmed there and videos... so it has to be the same place.

Checking out the link. Thank you, Tom!

I also have a thing for abandoned buildings and old industrial and institutional facilitiies. I like rust and faded paint. I like to photograph these buildings -- like there's nothing more beautiful that pale faded limegreen paint and hues of rust and metal.

I'm not one that takes good pictures, but, if I go, I will take pictures and post them here. I really wanna go!

For me, abandoned houses, buildings, etc... sort of "mix me up" emotionally. I can't put my finger on the feelings that I get when in one. But, a lot of it has to do with the structure once being so full of life and now just an empty shell of once was. My imagaination just runs away with itself and images of life just take over, good or bad, the structure once was full of life.

Anything could have taken place behind those walls... just as they do ours now... but once abandoned, it's, well... it's like a ghost.

Azure do you remember that reality show on MTV where they'd put a group of people together in like a old jail or crazy home?....and make them stay the night AND explore...sometimes having to stay there for the rest of the night in a creepy room. alot of the time something strange would happen and they'd freak!
