David LaChappelle - he has this amazing ability 2 make the everyday and mundane look glamerous and surreal. It's hyper realism gone mad basically:

Oh, and did I mention that he's gay and gorgeous? drooling

Dean Chamberlain www.deanchamberlain.com

Chamberlain not only creates truly extraordinary representations of reality, but has invented his own technique. Working with his subjects in complete darkness, he moves through the composition illuminating each individual element, not so much photographing a moment but painting it with light through time and space.

Jean Baptiste Mondino!

I think that Warhol has never received any proper recognition for his photography. People tend to focus on the mechanics of how he mass-produced rather than the fact that he actually had to frame the image within a camera lens beforehand. I'm talking about his portraits - Minnelli, Jagger, etc...

What I love about Decarava's photos is that it's rarely, if ever, staged...
he just naturally sees his surroundings as compositions, and finds the perfect moments to capture and turn into art...

Cool! If you're familiar with Arcadia, he did most of their photography and that's where I heard about him first. He then went on to direct a video for Arcadia, that was like stop motion with these kinds of lighted images and he also did All She Wants Is by Duran Duran. Otherwise you might be familiar with Madonna's Something to Remember cd, which he did.
