Wow, there seems to be a lot of impatient people around, I'm glad it's not just me.
Thanks to all who wished me well regarding this job. I just called the job agency again this morning to inquire if anything had changed. I was told that the company was still interested in me (I've heard that all before, same song, same verse ), and that a decision would not be made today, but probably by the end of the week. I even told the agency that I hope they make a decision soon, since I feel like they're just dragging it on right now, and I'm getting discouraged waiting. Dontcha just love the way these companies string you along, and not give you a definite answer? It's enough to make me say, "Forget it, they're taking too damn long, I think we need to look elsewhere". Of course I can't do that, since I am interested in the job, and I am at this company's mercy (and believe me, they know and take full advantage of it). So I have to wait some more now, which I absolutely loathe, it is making me absolutely crazy over here. Think I'll go out and buy some wine coolers, I need to have something to relax me, since I am absolutely and right now. My prospective employer either needs to shit or get off the pot edit [This message was edited Wed May 5 9:43:04 2004 by psychodelicide] RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Thanks, XxAxX. I can never understand why employers string you along like this, it's like they're playing a power game with you because they know they can. If I were in the position of hiring someone for a job, I would not do that, simply because it is maddening. I realize that companies are busy and all, but when it comes to making a final hiring decision, they seem to purposely drag it out for as long as they can. I'm giving this company until Friday afternoon, if they still don't have a final decision made, it's gonna be a "forget you" as far as I'm concerned. I went through this with another company that was acting like they wanted to hire me, except they already had a person in the position that would have been mine. She wasn't working out, and they were going back and forth about whether they were going to keep her or not. After putting up with it for a few weeks, and meeting my prospective bosses at a gas station (because they did not want the person who was in the position to know what was going on), I finally got disgusted. The last straw came when the prospective company tried to tell the employment agency who sent me on the interview that I didn't have health insurance background. Now that was a complete and utter lie, because I DID have health insurance background, and we had even talked about it during the interview. I got pissed when I heard that, and told the agency what I just said here, told them I was no longer interested in the job. I also emailed the person who I had interviewed with, and told them that I was not interested in a position with them, either now or in the future. I also said that it seemed like they were making up excuses not to hire me (telling the agency that the person who was currently in that position was doing "a little better", and also lying about my not having health insurance background). I sent it, thinking to myself, "Try to come up with an effective rebuttal for that one". I never heard from them again, which is a good thing, because I can't stand indecisiveness and people wasting my time. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Okay, I took XxAxX's advice and called the woman at the company who interviewed me and left her a voice message. I falsely told her that I was considering another job offer, I needed to let them know today whether I was going to accept the job, and that I also needed to know if the company's (the one I left the voice mail for) decision today as to whether I was being offered the job or not. While I hate lying like that and going behind the job agency's back, I feel like SOMETHING needed to be done, since the woman at the job agency who sent me on this interview is off today and tomorrow. Not sure what, if anything, the other woman at the job agency is doing as far as following up on this.
Now I'm wondering if I even WANT a job that I have to beg and grovel for (answer, probably not). Seems to me if this company was as "interested" in me as the job agency made it look like they were, they would have made me an offer long before this, and would not have kept me waiting forever. I'm sorely tempted, if I DO get a job offer from this place, to tell them, "Well, I'm not sure, I have to think about it". Then make THEM wait for 10 days until I give them a yes or no answer. I'll keep you posted. [This message was edited Fri May 7 5:46:38 2004 by psychodelicide] RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Psycho... be careful that you don't inquire too much about this position. Showing interest and following up can be beneficial, however, I know that a lot of times employers will refuse to hire someone, even if they are fully qualified, if they inquire too much. I've seen it happen time and time again.
I hope you get the job. | |

I hope you get the job. Thanks for the advice AzureStarr; however, I haven't spoken to the company since my interview 10 days ago. I'm trying not to bug them too much, just trying to get a handle on where I stand with this position. As an update, the job agency just called and left me a voice mail, saying the company was not ready to make a hiring decision yet. I just called the agency back and asked them what the prospective employer meant by not being ready to make a hiring decision, and that I did not quite understand what they were getting at. Turns out that they DID make an employment offer to another candidate, but she refused (can't say that I blame her). The person that the company made the job offer to was, the company's opinion, the "perfect candidate" for the position, and that she made a strong impression on the people who interviewed her, one that they felt they did not get when they interviewed me. I said to the job agency that I did not quite understand why the company was saying that, since I felt the interview had gone quite well, and that they seemed impressed with me. The job agency told me that I did my best, then asked me about my other job offer. Obviously the prospective employer had called the agency and told them about the voice mail that I had left, saying that I had another job offer on the table, and that I needed an answer right away. I told the job agency that I was not taking the position, and that we needed to just forget about the prospective employer who was "not ready to make a hiring decision yet", and to move on. I also told the job agency that I was disgusted with the prospective employer because they made me wait so long and did not give me a straight answer, and that even if the job WAS offered to me, I could not work for said company because I was so disgusted with everything. The agency told me that they would continue to look for me. In retrospect, it probably was best that I DIDN'T get this job, since I could not work for a company that was so indecisive and just seemed to get some sick pleasure out of stringing me along. They say that things happen for a reason, and I believe that. There has got to be a reason why this job did not work out, and it probably was a damn good one. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I'm an impatient bitch with anything and everything. I try to hide it because I know it's me...but I get real moody when people are in my way or if I have to wait for anything. I think I count to 10 probably 100 times a day on a daily basis. I wonder if they have medication for that?

I have the patience of a saint. I think there's something wrong with me, I'm so patient. However, lately I find I'm becoming a little impatient when it comes to nonsense. Like "cut, the bull, and get to the point" type nonsense. Like, when drivers hold up traffic because they've got to slow down to see the guy changing his tire on the side of the road. WTF!? KEEP IT F'N MOVIN'!!! Dumbness like that get's me nuts. Aarrgghhh!
Oh, and depending on the situation, other people's impatience drives me nuts, also. One of the best examples of this is when I'm crossing the street, simply trying to get from point A to point B and an impatient driver is speeding towards me. I have the light--mind you--but, the driver seems to think that if she drives faster I'll move faster and perhaps she'll get to her destination a nanosecond sooner. I've chased down, and cussed out a few drivers who've come within inches of running me down. If such impatience is worth risking the life of others, and you don't mind the jail time, then knock yourself out! btw, aren't drivers pedestrians too? (Sorry, for the rant.)
