Shhh! You might give Hollywood a really bad idea!! They'll either do a crappy sequel, or hire Michael Bay to do a shitty remake! Either way, it would be just plain wrong!!!!!

woot! I hope so!

I think Deckard needs a partner. Maybe some comic relief. I'm thinking Owen Wilson or maybe the one that's not Will Smith in Bad Boys.

Maybe Callista Flockhart will be in it too! biggrin

I don't think so. For me, Bladerunner is just a perfect piece of cinema and happens to be my favorite film.

Fuck! I turn my back 4 one minute, and someone creates a thread about my fave film!

Ive been waiting 4 the 3 disc (yep - u read that right - 3 DISC!) DVD 'Ultimate Edition' set that Ridley Scott started working on well over three years ago. Unfortunately, the date kept getting put back and constantly changed.

Then some legal bollox happened with it (when the film was made, it started running in2 budget problems, and was only thru Ridley Scott's sheer determination 2 get it out there in some semblance of sense, that it got released at all in the end. It bombed at the box office, and became a cult hit on video - a slow burner. Now, someone who originally helped fund the film now has either the sole rights, or part thereof, and are being cunty over it seeing the light of day at all. I think this is more down 2 'sour grapes' than anything else.

So now Ridley Scott has gone on 2 other things, and we may not EVER get 2 see this wonderful set. (the Alien Quadrilogy set and the 'Legend - Ultimate Edition' are very good indicators of what the quality of Ridley Scott's DVD releases are like.

There was 2 be the ORIGINAL version of the film, and an updated, 'ULTIMATE' version of the film - which would contain all the remaining outtakes - including the infamous 'iron lung' scene.

There are 6 different versions all in all of the film - not radically different, but subtle changes in pace, music, ending etc. Ridley Scott has never been satisfied with what was released - even the 'Directors Cut' that was released had 2 be rushed in the end when the studio started 2 put the pressure on - yet again. Deja Vu?

I THOUROUGHLY recommend fans of the film 2 track down Paul M. Sammon's book: 'Future Noir: The Making Of Blade Runner' - an amazing read in how the film came 2 be, and what it went through 2 get there - trust me, it wasn't pretty, in fact it sounded a complete nightmare.

The amazing thing is, even after all this time, that film (unlike 99% of the Sci-Fi genre) STILL doesnt look dated.

Even if u are not a sci-fi 'fan', check it out - it's very film noir too, very classy.

Any B.R. questions - just ask me!!!

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe...

Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion....

...I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser gate.

All those...moments will be lost...in time...like tears in rain.

...Time....to die."

This moves me everytimeI hear it/see it...

Did U know that Rutger Hauer wrote that scene off-the-cuff 15 mins before shooting it? Awesomely moving.[/b] sad

It's a rainy night in Chinatown. Detective Rick Deckard is reading his paper as the rain pours down on the by-walkers and on the illuminated pavement. The narrator (Deckard himself) tells us in a bleak and matter-of-fact voice that "they don't advertise for killers in a newspaper, but that was my profession". He's an ex-cop and an ex-killer. Deckard has a small dispute with a Chinese restaurant keeper about his food and then goes on telling us that his ex-wife called him sushi, cold fish. Suddenly a strange character taps Deckard on the shoulder and "invites" Deckard to follow him [sound file] to the police station to meet his ex-boss (that's a lot of ex's). Dashiell Hammett? Mickey Spillane? Philip Marlowe? Humphrey Bogart? Eddie Constantine? The film must be film noir. At least it happens in the 40's or 50's! Wrong again. This is Blade Runner, science fiction, and it is happening in 2019.

Harrison Ford and Rutger were so incredibly sexy and magnetic in that film...they
just don´t make stars like they used to sigh

Rutger has never been better imo

I think he is (or used to be) a fantastic actor. Very charismatic and oh, those eyes.

I have seen some of the (very naughty, hehe ) films he made with Paul Verhoeven in Holland.

It´s a shame that he chose to flush his career down the toilet accepting so many
crappy roles in too many mediocre american movies

He will have a cameo in Batman Begins, alongside Liam Neeson.

I hope he will reclaim a bit of the cool factor he used to have.

But then again, he's DUTCH. So he does not care much for that. He just wants some money so he can live his life in the way he wants to.

I aplaude him for that! clapping
