Disaster Flicks

Who likes them? I gotta admit I do. Even that stinker that was on tv last night 10.5 . It wasn't so awful because they didn't overkill the CGI. I'm really looking forward to The Day After Tomorrow (I think that's what it's called)

I loved The Towering Inferno, The Posidon Adventure, Earthquake etc!!

I have a friend who says I'm the Queen of Morbid because I like to watch weather stuff. I love tornados, but would never want to be in one....scary!!

I also like to watch documentaries on serial killers. I watched one on HBO last night (again) on serial killers who cannibalize their victims....creepy.

Wanna know what's even stranger than that. For all that I dig that kind of stuff, I don't watch slasher/gore movies.

giggle Okay, enough...

I can't wait for "The Day After Tomorrow"

If they do it right, I'll be having bad dreams for weeks!

I love watching that sort of stuff, too... at the same time, though, I love a good (and not-so-good) slasher/gore movie.

What is it about the gore movies that you don't like? Is it because they aren't real?

I don't like violence for the sake of violence. I guess for me, with serial killers doing such horrific things in real life, I don't like to watch the gore "for fun".

With the serial killers, I think I'm intrigued by just how psychologically screwed up a person can get.

Thing is, I only even watch the serial killer stuff to a certain extent. I don't need to know all the gory details. I'm more interested in what drove them to do what they did.

I don't know if I'm explaining this well... disbelief

I love movies like these just to see the special effects. It's cool to see how they pull various scenes off.

What drives me nuts is how they always try to squeeze some love story into these flicks.

There is something about those 70s disastar movies that I like too. the special effects were not very sophisticated but I think that adds to their appeal.

I am awaiting "The Day after Tomorrow." It is scary to think that Global warming could cause such havoc.

Global warming (and cooling) are natural events that have happened throught the Earth's history. There's far too much emphasis placed on us being to blame, i think we contribute a little, but i don't think you can stop Mother Nature when she wants to play.

Oh yeah, disaster flicks rule! big grin

Just to see what would come up, I searched Da Weva Eata. The only hit I got was for a Guns n Roses website in Spanish. giggle

such a scary movie! i watched it a few years ago just for the camp factor but it was still kinda creepy. its a little too realistic (not to be confused with good performances, lol).
