Star Wars: The TV series???

The folks over at theforce.net are reporting today that Lucasfilm is developing a live-action television show that would be set between Episodes III and IV!!!

Holy crap!!! We might be getting a weekly dose of Vader and Chewie!!!! That's almost 19 years that they could play with (the length of time between these episodes). This could mean that we will see the formation of the Rebellion, as well as the rise of characters like Tarkin. Also, it could mean Jimmy Smits is returning to TV.

Hope they do the syndication route, as the networks would find a way to totally screw it up!

I thought this was old news - rumours abounded about this months ago in the press and online.

I certainly hope they are true, as I think it's a natural progression 4 the franchise now, AND Lucasfilm.

It could, if handled correctly (unlike the Young Indy series) revolutionise TV and the Sci-Fi genre yet again.

Bring it on!

I agree. Networks try to play to demographics too much. Look at what they did to the Trek franchise once it went to UPN. confused

I doubt any of the networks would want to touch anything that expensive at this point.

Its all about reality now. neutral

Screw that! bad idea. It's going to end up as played out and as dull as Star Trek.

I'm all for it as long as they stick to animation. A live action show featuring Vader hunting down the remaining Jedi, could get boring real quickly. I've got a feeling that's what it'll be based on. Forget anybody big signing up for this. Ewan Mcgregor definately won't do it, neither would Ian McDiarmid for that matter.

I don't want to see Star Wars cheapened this way. 'Young Indiana Jones' was bad enough.

Big discussion on this here:

It just became official news. I didn't want to post anything about it until it had gotten past the rumour stage.

Well, I think there's a whole helluva lot that could be done with it. Sure, it could suck, and it could also be wonderful. I learned my lesson about this several years ago, when they announced a "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer" TV series. My first reaction was "man, this is gonna suck!". I wound up eating those words when it became my favorite TV series.

I don't think they would need to have Ewan in it at all, since Obi Wan will be seen going into hiding on Tattoine at the end of Episode III. I think it should really focus more on the Rebellion, and how it forms during the rise of the Empire.

Co-sign on Buffy! Loved that show.

I suppose you could be right, it could be good. If it was live action, i wonder what the budget would be, also how quickly ILM could churn out a series. I'd prefer a mini-series in the vein of Band Of Brothers. Spend some serious money on it.
