Im not sure what kind of person you are (Im new to the org) but if the child looks upon you with admiration, you shouldnt betray that respect. You should work hard to be a role model and reinforce positivity in the child's life. Don't let him down.

A friend of mine has the same situation with someone's daughter. The mother hardly has anything to do with the child because she's off partying, landing in jail, etc., yet my friend takes care of her like his own. The dad hasn't been in the picture for a long long time. NCC2012... your local Trekkie. =/\=

Flattered, definitely.
The closest i've ever got to acting like a father figure was when I had a cat. And even that fucker tried to scratch my eyes out.

Moderator | Be flattered
There is a little girl in my class who always tells me "you are my mom". At first it freaked me out! I thought the same shit as you, JUST HOW FUCKED UP ARE YOUR PARENTS!!! But I came to realize over time that she just really loved me and that's how she knows how to express it. Yes, be flattered In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

Be flattered, it's a great thing to be respected by someone so young.
Youth are much more observant than we give them credit for. Good for you. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

It can be a bummer if you think about the reality that you are doing things the father should be doing. But that isn't the kids fault. Be flattered and give the kid what you can, financially or emotionally. Just be there. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Definitely take this as a compliment!
Speakin as a chic wif a photographic memory, i actually remember the mentality behind why girls wish another woman was her mum and boys wish another man was his father, and it has nothin 2 do wif havin screwed up parents. When i was 2-6 years old i loved women (usually my aunties or my uncle's girlfriends or teachers) who either or all of the following: 1) Were pretty 2) Smiled alot 3) Were girly and put nail polish on my nails 4) Listened to the stories i used to tell, despite da fact that i'd never ever end them 5) Loved to squeeze da hell outta me, cause i loved to be cuddled (what kid doesnt..well most of them hey) 6) Let me eat what i want YEAH! Bein a lil girl, da male figures besides my dad were my uncles...and i da stuff i loved bout them and admired bout them were: 1) (as an aunt put it) Worshipped the ground i walked on and followed me everywhere 2) Had inevitably somethin to do wif music and got me excited about it, helped make it magical! 3) Played stupid games and agreed to do stupid things when asked. 4) Air of confidence. I think kids grow to want to take what they like from what they admired when they were kids and it kinda molds them into what they become- not all the time though! I also reckon we grow to subconcsiouly look for these postive familiar qualities with friendships and then relationships as we get older Just a bit of insight... No hablo espanol,no!
Pero hablo ingles..ssii muy muy bien... "Come into my world..." Missy Quote of da Month: "yeah, sure, that's cool...wait WHAT?! "
