here's an idea. i don't know what country you live in but a problem here in the states, people can file documents at the county recorder's office by showing up with the right paperwork in hand and the applicable fee. so, supposing you were a carpenter and they'd hired you to put in kitchen cabinets. then didn't pay. you'd file a lien against their real property to get your money back.

in fact, there's a scam that's been used in certain states where a scammer 3rd party finds out about property being listed for sale, then quickly files a lien on said property under false pretenses. that being done, the real estate transaction (already insanely detailed) becomes snagged on the lien, which will show up in the offical title search. a lot of times a lien must be settled somehow before or during the real estate transaction. so the person who's scammed in this way often finds it easier to simply pay the lien, rather than file the necessary documents to correct the title in time to close the real estate deal. pretty mean trick.

if you could file a lien against any property the bad guys in your case might own (you can call the county recorder's office and find out who owns property by giving an address after following one home) you might have leverage with which to negotiate.

in this case.....after viewing a place.....you go and pay a deposit to secure it. they give you the necessary paperwork stating a move in date. this is normal. i think i have gone through this senario over 7 or 8 times whilst renting in london .everythme you think...damn they could run off with my money. this time they did.

The guy was idiot though he gave me a key for the deadbolt and not the bottom lock. He was stupid because in the middle of his move he locked the deadbolt but not the bottom lock. I changed the locks on him and half of his stuff was in there which I held until he paid me. He still hasn't paid me and his stuff is junk to me but there is some good pagen jewerly that I could care less about.

so now.....just got a call from the police. i've given all the details of the ppl and paper trail involved. the problem now is that as no one as yet have reported them.....it could be a civil matter. i know for a fact they have done this to other ppl....i just pray they report...then we have a proper case.
so frustrating.
