We get them every few years here.. there are 2 kinds. Some come out every 4 or 5 years I think.. and some every 13. Those are the worst, and that's what's coming now.

They don't bite.. but they swarm to loud noises and if I remember correctly, they like water.

When they land on you, if it is on your hair, you will have a field day trying to get it out. It's near impossible without a fight.. or without getting them out in two pieces. >.< Trust me, it's no walk in the park.

Just thought I'd share.. and say that that picture is completely disgusting. Funny, but god, I hate them.

we used to get cicadas in jersey, every few years you get an EXTRA heavy dose of them in the summer.....they make a a very loud buzzing like sound. They come in the summer, and you can find their skin sheddings on trees and stuff, they are a pain in the ass!

i remember when i was a kid and how you'd hear tons of those damned things in the summertime, right around dusk. i actually like the sound they make....and i remember a kid who lived downstairs from me who collected their sheddings off of tree trunks. that, and you'd see dead ones in the road that met their fate from passing cars or trucks...eww.

i like the sound they make, too.
