ever felt you’d be better of dead than alive?

i have, for the past 8 fucking days!

MIGRAINE

i’ve tried “everything” from over the counter headache/migraine pills, vasodilators, hot towels, cold towls, music therapy, colour therapy, aromatherapy, smoking, drinking, new diet, controlled substances.

i can count the number of hours of PROPER sleep I’ve had on one hand

someone grab a power drill and give me a third eye socket

god, I don’t ask you for much…but PLEASE kill me now…if at all you do exist???

I believe they call that an aneurysm. Bang your head against the wall and see what happens. razz

Have you been eating a lot of sugars, caffeine, things with color dyes in it? Those could be some causes. Have your girlfriend massage the bottom of your feet or the palms of your hands, that should work.

hope you feel better soon. my brother gets these about once a month and he lies down in a dark room, no light, no sound, with a cool cloth on his head.

i did a bit of research and migraines are pretty mysterious. only thing i heard that works med-wise is something to dilate blood vessels. but it doesn't work for everyone.

-- Have a bath or shower.
-- Lie down to rest in a dark room.
-- Avoid bright or flashing light.
-- Put something cold on the back of your neck, such as
a cold, wet cloth; or alternate hot and cold cloths
where the pain is.
-- Put a cold compress on your forehead and your feet in a
container of warm water.
-- Have a drink of water or natural juice, especially tomato juice.
-- Have some food, or a nutritious drink, if you
haven't eaten for a while.
-- Massage your own face, head, neck and shoulders, or get someone
else to do those and your back. Relax your muscles.
-- Press on two pressure points at the back of the neck. These
points are about two inches apart, just below the base of
the skull. Press for a minute or two. This releases
endorphins that help against pain.
-- Massage or press on the fleshy area between thumb and
forefinger.
-- Gently lean the head to left or right to stretch the neck muscles.
Massage and relax any tense muscles.
-- Avoid sources of stress. Cancel activities so there's less
to worry about.
-- Avoid exercise during a headache if it makes throbbing pain
in the head and neck worse. On
the other hand, generally exercise improves health, and
it may help you relax during a headache.
-- Take some niacin (a form of vitamin B3). Taking enough
niacin to cause a flush (blood rushing to the skin) can
provide relief from headache pain, but this much niacin
can also have side effects (flush, nausea, heartburn,
liver damage, etc.) Niacinamide doesn't have such bad
side effects, but isn't as much use against migraines, either.
Smaller, safer amounts of niacin are also helpful.
Niacin can trigger a migraine, though.
-- Take some vitamin C, vitamin B6, choline, tryptophan and niacin
and/or magnesium.

then again, leeches to remove blood or drilling a small hole in one's head to let off pressure and/or bad spirits was used centuries ago

don't mean to make light of your headache. GET WELL SOON heart

Damn, that's TERRIBLE. I get migraines too. Wish I could help. sad I've found that changing my diet helps, but only in the long run. Cut down on sugar, alcohol and caffeine and you should get less headaches/ migraines later on.

I get em' too.

Last resort would be to go to the doc and get a Demoral shot. I've had to do that once, and it disappears right away. I totally understand the "nothing works".

I take a shitload of Advil, then turn the bath on as hot as I can stand it. I'll plug up the tub like I'm gonna take a bath, get in a lay down with my head directly under the faucet. Close your eyes and concentrate on the water hitting your face and head. I'll sit there and waste a good 20 minutes of hot water just pounding down on my head, but it feels so much better temporarily, if not completely. It's almost like a massage. Try it, it feels better.

I really hope you feel better soon. I REALLY FEEL FOR YOU. sad

Yep,I have.Chjronic pain since 96(ddd at C6-C7)Major pain meds. Couldn't turn my head more then 15 or 20 degrees.Had pain If I had to look down for any amount of time. Pain meds, hundereds of injections.(lidocaine, cortizone)Finally had a neck fusion disectomy(sp?) in October of 02.After 18 months I'm about 50 to 80% better. But's that's as good as I'm gonna get(and I had one of the top 50 surgeons in the country)Tried to lift some weights the other week and it's bothered me ever since.Lower back gave me trouble throughtout this hell, and it's bothering me right now. This shit can screw relationship's,self-esteem,etc.You become very isolated(especially after the surgery)But at least I reduced my medication by 75%,or so.Crappy time not to have someone special in your life. That's for damn sure.Thank god for my parents,(divorced after 35 years) and my brother, cause once you get into your 30's,"friends" seem to disappear.Oh well. And nothing caused my neck pain.(no weight lifting, sports,et)Just happened! And I feel your pain about the migraines.I had 2 sinus surgeries in 1997.Lotsa Fun. confused

Oh, honey. That's terrible.

When I get them, the only thing I've ever found to work is a combo of Aleve (naproxen) and caffeine. But I've never had one for days on end. I think I would be hoping for a merciful death at that point too.

You need a CT scan or something. disbelief
