Not accepting female body hair is an attempt to make women look like little pre-pubescent girls--but, hey, maybe that's what men like to fuck?

Agreed. And some women have tried to get legal recognition that they at least have that same right. Don't know what the outcome has been. Anybody know?

Ewww, I just got a mental picture of someone with a hairy underarm, standing in front of you in a salad line, reaching down to get some salad or whatnot. I feel sick. Yes, but then again it could be a man though right? It is a fact that, at puberty, when a woman becomes sexually mature, like it or not, hair starts to sprout. Why should the prevalent image of beauty wish women to revert un-naturally to a pre-pubescent state? Is this indication of sexual maturity too provocative, too confronting for those who set the standard? I used to think underarm hair on a women was ugly, but then I genuinly think that’s because I live in a society conditioned by a prevalent beauty myth. Speaking for myself, I know for certain that I don’t have any distinct sexual desire for a woman to look like a pre-pubescent girl so I’ve tried to become a bit more objective on this issue. The practice has been confined largely to English-speaking women of North America and Great Britain, so maybe our societies should embrace underarm hair more! Having said that, I guess due to social conditioning hairy is akin to being dirty. I must admit I don’t feel clean if I haven’t shaved (my face of cause! and yes I do have underam hair as elsewhere!), so I like many women here on the Org and in general I guess feel much cleaner, more attractive, etc when hairfree.

I'm dying to know. sorry if I offended anyone with this thread but my preferences are different. No, you didn't offend me at all. I myself usually shave, I'll fully admit that society and what men find attractive makes me feel that it's necessary, so that I don't get weird looks. I'm just saying that it makes no sense at all for people to feel that body hair for a guy is normal, but for a woman it's "gross". (I won't even go into all the work it takes to be hairless, lol) I think that when our society insists that women be hairless--even our vaginas are supposed to be that way now--it's meant to make us more child-like, youthful, girly. Oh, and the edit was just because I remembered something else I wanted to say after I posted.

Maybe I'm the only one... but I get turned on by the scent of a man's armpit. Unless they have a terribly offensive odor, but I have yet to run into one of those. Seriously.

[This message was edited Fri Apr 23 17:50:13 2004 by AnotherLoverToo] Then in that case maybe bikini tops should be obsolete! All women should be able to go anywhere shirtless as do men. Yay or Nay? But breasts and body hair aren't comparable, imo. Yes, both men and women have breasts, but obviously women's breasts naturally grow larger in order to prepare for feeding children, etc. Men's "breasts" stay relatively flat (unless you're Althom, who has ManBoobs! ) Men and women both grow body hair, though--and, if anything, men have MORE of it, so why don't they have to shave their whole bodies instead? I mean, since we have more boobage we have to put it in a bra--so you guys should be the ones to deal with your body hair instead of us! Somewhere along the line, our society sexualized breasts to the point where we felt that they needed to be covered. Men's breasts aren't viewed that way, although we women DO appreciate seeing a nice chest. .

I really could care less for mens armpits let alone seeing a mans nipples but I feel women are being discriminated against by not being able to walk down the street shirtless as any man would!!! Yeah, I'll confess that some body-hair nuzzling happens on my part too. I freakin' love the smell. Pheremones, I think. I'll also confess that I especially love the smell of Old Spice deoderant. Whenever I notice a guy smells dreamy, if I should get around to asking him what he's wearing, he almost always looks confused for a second and then goes, "oh, just Old Spice deoderant." It irritates me that I fall for something so traditional.
