2nd grade Missy... although it definitely has nothing to do with the children. Interacting/teaching/learning from the children always brings enormous joy and immense fulfillment in so many ways.

Cool, so your going to be a teacher soon? A teacher that likes Prince..wow, now if my teachers liked Prince, I think we'd have much more to talk about, instead of grossing out when they see a certain prince cover, in this case I won't mention. Worlds most beloved Orger

I'm guessin the teacher you're gettin experience with is a bit hardcorez. No, not exactly... she is a personal friend of my sisters and has a list of (personal issues), although a great teacher... her approach works wonderous for her. My approach/philosophies intermixed with Montessori theory... does not set well with her. The thing is... she is not very familiar with Montessori, yet she strongly disagrees with it. Go figure... I feel/believe she feel intimidated with my strong connection with the children... which is sad. I have always told her... I love her teaching style/methods and I truly do. Although I do also clearly state... her approach.methods are not necessarily for me. My issues relate with the fact that I first had Montessori experience/knowledge prior to Public schools. I have seen/experience many different educated environment/districts. My dream... to incorperate/intergrate a fair amount of Montessori methods within a Public setting. Hard, difficult... a challenge? Definitely... although that is, I feel... my personal mission. Let me tell you this... The other day... I was doing the lesson plans and she asked me when was my last day. I told her the 23rd. I had previously told her I would stay the remaining days of April. Although with the tension... I just want to be done, move on. Sure I will miss the children , I just told them today my last day is next Wednesday. They were... NO, we will miss you Mrs. Ochoa. You can substitute, they encouraged me. I said, "perhaps"... Anyways, back to my cooperating teachers comment after telling her when I plan for my last day... She got quite upset when I told her my date. She told me... "Do what you have to do!" I told her I just wanted to be done with it. Yada, yada... yada. Through much verbal exchange... I kept my composure although stood my ground about us having our difference and that I respected hers etc. She again mentioned... "This is reality Julie!" I told her it was her reality... and that is was not the only reality that existed. She said, "Then go find your reality Julie!" (mad at this point) By that point I just couldn't believe her resentment. I tried to reconfirm my support in her teaching methods, that how I feel is not a personal attack. I suppose when people are insecure prior to whatever lays in futures path... I suppose the success of another is never truly appreciated, but scorned. I am venting... I am also in the middle of so much paper work at the moment... To wrap this up... my supervisor came in for my 5th evaluation just Tuesday. She noticed my cooperating teacher interfering with my lessons, not giving me full range to experience all that will occur on my own... that is how we truly learn, direct experience (all of it). My supervisor has a short conference and asked my cooperating teacher to leave the room from now on. She approached it all gracefully and the way she expressed her reasons... were well taken by my cooperating teacher. (I hope) If not, she is cooking inside. Three more days... is all I can say. And the past two days... since this little conference has been god sent. ..... nuff said, I think. | |
