Okay Org fam: Moral dilemma.

I left a position at a brokerage firm because basically I was disgusted with the way things were handled there. I gave up a lot of moolah for my principles. Finding a new job took me two months. My current position is okay. I've learned some stuff I didn't know such as payroll and the perks are sweet: It's a fifteen minute drive, my bosses are great, I get to be here in my down time , and other small things that make a big difference. BUT, for a single mom of three, two of which are teens, the pay isn't cutting it. My old boss called me and offered my old job back, which is about double the salary I'm making now. (Yeah, some of ya'll thinking I'm crazy). A huge part of why I left is gone from the company but I know I'm gonna hate my job again probably within a week. The old boss says that I will be given more responsibility, putting my supervisory brokerage licenses to work and I hope to actually be able to make things better but.....I don't know. I have to worry about taking care of my household as well as helping my grandmother who has grown *** men living with her but they don't work. I know I shouldn't worry about that and say they should get a job but she is my grandmother and I want to be in a position to help.

I need you guys' thoughts on this. Should I keep looking for a job somewhere else?

First of all I thought you were about 19. I had no idea you had teens.

I wish I had an answer for you... You need to do what is best for you, and your family.

You thought I was 19? lol Do I talk/act like that?

Seriously, I'm 34. I know I gotta do what's best for my family but I'm worried what returning to this field will do to me emotionally.

That's funny because before I ever saw a picture of you I thought you were a short, skinny, white girl with dark hair. At least I was right about the dark hair! lol

If it were me, I'd give the old job a second chance. It's obvious your old boss "NEEDS" you otherwise he wouldn't be calling you back, he's just find someone else. This means you probably have a little more leverage and can maybe use it to your benefit.

No, silly.

If it were me, I would think about my well being first... and worry about money when it comes up..

I think you should make the plunge...I don't have any words of wisdom to back up my suggestion, other than from what you've told me about this opportunity so far, I have a good feeling about it. You can use the extra money, the worst element of the old job is gone, and you'll have more responsibility and challenges on the job. I say go for it.

You should go back with the stipulation that somethings have got to change. Tell your old boss what the problem is, you never know it may help someone else and start a trend of change. He clearly thinks you're worth the $$$.

Look no further.....go on back to that job! Don't worry about the emotional wear-and-tear. You can handle anything that's thrown at you, as long as you believe it! nod

Stay at your current job until you find something better. You already know you'll be miserable at the other one...money isn't everything. Hold out till you can find a place where you will make more money and be happy.

good luck!

co-sign. I've left jobs and gone back more than once, and I've never seen considerable change. If you are making a livable wage in a good atmosphere, I'd say to stick with it. More money will come eventually -- either there or in a new place. Keep moving forward!!!

Buena suerte!

Shiiiiit! You got kids to feed! Take that old job back! Wasn't like you were selling crack to school children. Just keep an eye out for something better.

Hi
I have several suggestions

1. Pray on it or chat or meditate or whatever it is you do. Mull it over and go with your gut. We have great instincts and even greater self knowledge we just have to listen.

2. Make a list of Pros and cons balance it out and be honest don't embellish. where finances are better may not be where peace of mind is.

3. Yes on the whole grandmother tip, BUT is that something that you really need to worry about, help her but if granma is letting those unemployed grown men live with her, then you have to do what you can and no more. That means you shouldn't let that situation dictate what goes on in your house. Does grandma let your situation or views on that matter dictate what goes on in hers?

4. Talk to the kids, believe it or not if you express to them the dilema they will be able to give honest input. Give them credit and let them know that while it is you decision, any input they give will be considered in making the final decision.

hope that helps hug

hang in there mom I know it's tough.

I'm a single mom too. Dammit, take your old job back - double the salary? Hey, it would make your finances better and you would not have to struggle so much. Go to your old job, I certainly would. Ya need the money, it's sure is hard to juggle the bills. If things don't turn out at the old job then stay and just look for a new job, never quit or else no money coming in.

Exactly how difficult is it for you to support your family at this point? If you can barely put food on the table I say take your old job back while looking for something else. If you're doing ok (but can't go on vacations etc) I say stay at your current job and look for something else.

In any case, it doesn't sound like a good idea to go back to your old job and stay there because usually when a job has started to make you depressed it doesn't matter that you make changes. The bad vibes will stick.
