We chatted over tea and biscuits and then he gave me something very dear to me (and i ain't going no further than that). And i didn't ask him, but i'm sure he was well aware that you have by far and away the biggest ass.

for me the 'biggie' has to be George Clinton: I crossed his ways when he was going to the toilet in a recordstore in Vienna some years ago and he said some friendly 'Hi' to me when I just entered the store. (He was giving a tv interview there, the store was picked cause it's specialising in Funk & Soul) Of course I approched him - not on the toilet but when he came back - and made him sign my newly purchased Parliament CDs Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

Howard Jones once went shopping in the record store I was working at back in 96.
Ally Sheedy once shopped at a bookstore that I worked at. I've met Living Colour before a few shows. I have pictures! I met Duran Duran back in 1990. I have pictures! I think that's it.

Met :
Dennis Taylor (was official photographer when he did a show in a local holiday centre) Bob Geldof (talked briefly to him on a plane from Dublin to London) Chris De Burgh (met him after his concert in Simmonscourt, circa 1984/5) Bono & The Edge (met and talked briefly to them in the security clearance queue in Dublin Airport) Johnny Logan (who was in the holiday centre the same day as Dennis Taylor, didn't really have any interest in meeting him, but had no choice, nice guy though) all the current members of Fairport Convention (after their gig last time they played in Dublin) Charles Haughey (git) (was official photographer at an endurance diving world record attempt opened by him) Neil Morrissey (shared a joint with him at the Fleadh in Finsbury Park) Jimmy White (had a pint with him in Richmond) Ronnie Wood (played pool with him in Richmond) You don't have to hang around Dublin for very long to spot a famous person, so I've seen loads (and probably passed by even more that I didn't recognise) including Christy Moore, Gabriel Byrne, James Nesbitt, Neil Jordan, lead singer of Def Leppard whose name escapes me right now (seem to bump into him on a regular basis), various other dj's, musicians, actors, tv personalities etc, who probably wouldn't be considered famous outside Ireland and would probably be miffed at being described as such. Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

Are we counting people we've seen in concert too ? Don't think I'll bother because my list would include some bands that split up long before some of you were born, it would be just too embarrassing! Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

My most favorite brush with greatness was when I was in college and I got to spend the night hanging out with Tina Weymouth and Chris Franz from Talking Heads/Tom Tom Club, and I got to watch Tina giving the lead singer of James a haircut in the green room before the concert.
My second most favorite brush with fame was having dinner with Ed Koch - it was a very, erm...interesting evening. A friend was having a get-together after Thanksgiving one year, and neglected to tell me that one of the people he had invited just so happened to be the former mayor of New York. WOOPS! My best New Years Eve involved walking Debbie Harry and Chris Stein to their car after they performed at Squeezebox (ahhh, Squeezebox...) - after then, I'd see her at that club a lot, checking out the performances. And working retail in NYC put me face to face with a lot of celebs - the only ones I can remember right now are Brad Pitt, Eric Stoltz, Bridget Fonda and Gene Wilder. I used to see Willem Dafoe ride his bicycle around all over the place in the East Village, which was really cool at first but after a while it was like, "oh whoop de doo, it's Willem Dafoe on a bike AGAIN."

Very sad I can't believe Gary Lineker ever left Leicester (I was a bit weird when i was younger and supported Everton even though i was from Leicester - long story but i'm cured now). You can kinda guess the progs i was on from the people there, but anyways i'm gonna shut up now. I was lucky to meet some really nice people anyway.
