Favourite video games

Okay so the Simpson topic got me thinking about video games (the simpsons is a fun game too!) . I like some old school games but I definatley prefer new games, lol i remember when i used to think the mega drive was so realistic lol
My all time favourites are (no order):
Moonwalker(well i am an mj fan lol but it was a cool game)
Driver
Road rash (I prefer the recent versions because the graphics are so much stronger, in the first one you were literally driving down the same road for hours lol)
GTA (all or any of them)
Mario cart
Streetfighter
Mortal kombat (the first one that came out for the SNES and mega drive)
Alex the kidd in miricale word : for the master system, the first computer game i ever played smile
Max Payne
Black and White (the cool version of sim city lol i love playing god)

Thats all i can think of at the moment, Im sure more wil hit me later, whats everyone elses favourites?...

Also why aren't more girls 'into' video games ?...

I haven't played video games in years. Some of the ones I remember as favorites, though, are...

The Mega Man series
Shinobi
Double Dragon
hmmm I can't recall the name, but I remember it was some Greek mythology-based game where you fought monsters, rode on dolphins' backs and had to find all sorts of hidden treasures, etc.

Well when yr not wasting ya time on music and girls I play video games...
These are my all time favs of the top of my head.

Street Fighter 2 - I much prefer the sequals Turbo and Super but it comes down 2 this game, which is easily 1 of the most played games ever. It was the 1st game i got with the SNES and I spent months on it, ruined 2 whole control pads on it aswell.

Zelda: A Link to the Past - Another SNES game which I seemingly spent an eternity on. I just love everything about the story, the characters, the gameplay. Its the first game i remember playing in which it felt like I was the lead role in an epic movie.

Final Fantasy 7 - I didnt get anywhere near the end of this game and I was totally overwhelmed by it. Like the millions of others I didnt like the fact U ran in2 an invisible fight every 5secs but it was such a gigantic game, full of complex characters and full of emotion.

Black and White - Another amazing game which I never truly got into, but only because this time my PC couldnt handle the game 4 longer than 15mins at a time and so eventually had 2 give it up. The God of all the God games. Pure genius.

Championship Manager - Dont really matter which 1 U pick, they're mostly just updates from the original. I prefer football management sims rather than playing sims so this game was a real thrill for all its simplicities. But had 2 give it up a few months ago because its so addictive it just eats yr life away.

Half Life - Halo is better in terms of gameplay but I prefer Half Life due its more intense atmosphere and character interaction which make U think harder, whereas Halo is pretty much a "run down the corridor blowing shit away" type of game. Absolutely cannot fucking wait 4 for the sequal, which is looking incredible. Damn the bastad who stole the coding!!!!

Deus Ex - My fav game of all time. Yup, love everything about it. Plot is massive and very clever. Characters are complex and intrigueing. Gameplay is very challenging and feels just right. Graphics are shit.....but who cares, thats far outweighed by the brilliance of the rest of it. Shame the sequal was tripe.

I don't think they got much better than Mario Bros 3. There were all those types of attacks. I love the different power suits. And now with game saves (on GBA) it's even better.

While not a video cartridge game, I've always loved the Simpsons Aracade game. They should have so put that out on a system.

We forgot Sonic! I miss sega, Sonic the hedgehog was way better than Mario, and then his little sidekick Tails came along who used to use his tail to fly, luigi couldnt fly lol

lol One of my friends was saying how the creators of Mario must have been drug addicts as he saw a lot of metaphors for drugs ie the mushrooms that make you bigger, the leaf that makes you float more, Dino (was that his name ?) always had the muchies etc etc

Sorry for the mild pimpage - I meant to mention this, since some of you mentioned old-school games as favourites. I work as a videogames programmer and designer, and recently I've been doing some smaller, simple old-school games for digital TV, as well as mobile phones, GBA etc. Obviously these platforms are very limited, but if any of you have Sky TV in the UK you can check out some of my recent work smile Just press the interactive button and choose SkyActive.
